"broken Reference To The File"" Error In Ms Access

By: data recovery Home | Computers-and-Technology | Data Recovery

An error message saying, "Broken reference to the file"" in MS Access database can occur due to various possible reasons. Some of the possible reasons might be importing of an incompatible database component, importing of invalid database component, corruption in Operating System, virus infection, unexpected system shutdown, software malfunction, etc.
This error message completely halts the accessibility of MS Access database and hence our valuable data comes in danger. In such situations, user need to compact Access database or need to recover the Access database from the latest backup. However, if an updated or valid backup of inaccessible Access database is not available with the user, then he/she can repair and recover the inaccessible, corrupt, damaged or lost Access database (.MDB files) using effective and advanced Access Recovery software that compact Access database safely.
For instance, when the user attempts to import a database component from MS Access 2003 to MS Access 2007, he/she encounters error message mentioned below:
"Your Microsoft Access database or project contains a missing or broken reference to the file version "
Here File Name signifies the name of the .dll or .tib file.
Here Version Number signifies the version number of the .dll or .tib file.
Occurrence of this error message, forces the Access database to shut unexpectedly. When the user attempts to re-mount the Access database, he is unable to do so. Furthermore, the Access database becomes inaccessible and unmountable. Two main reasons for the occurrence of the above error message are:
The form in the source Access database contains a reference to a DLL (.dll- Dynamic Link Library) or to a type library (.tlb).
The DLL (.dll) or the type library (.tlb) does not exist in the same location on the source computer.
If the database has some relationships with other database or database tables and the reference of those relationships has got corrupted, then this situation can lead you to such weird situation. In such situations, when you click on the particular database, at startup, it can"t access the link libraries and its resources.
Resolution
To resolve this issue and to access the .MDB database, one needs to repair or recreate the corrupt database relationships. Repairing a database relationship creates a reference of the file name to a library or an updated version of that library.
In small Access database, the user can easily and quickly recreate all the relationships. But in case of large Access database, the user can not recreate all the database relationships again. In such scenarios, user needs to Compact Access database using powerful Access Recovery software. Compact Access Database Software repairs and compacts Access database without modifying the original contents of the Access database. Demo version of the software proves to be handy and gives you an idea about the recovery.
