A Brand Is Much More Than Just A Logo

By: dwsprasanna Home | Internet-and-Business | Web-Design

A common mistake that most companies make when it comes to their businesses is confusing a brand with a logo. Often, a brand is misinterpreted as a logo but the truth is the logo is just a part of the business brand. A brand is what identifies the company from its contenders in the business industry. While a brand is crucial for any business, the importance of the logo should not be dismissed as well.

A logo is defined as the insignia, emblem, or symbol that is used to advertise a commercial enterprise. Using a logo helps the public recognize the company brand. Logos can be in the form of a symbol, a text, or a combination of both. The logo of a company is usually tantamount to the brand name. A brand, on the other hand, is what identifies the company"s product or service. It gives your partners, investors, staff, and customers an idea of what your product or service is all about and gives them a view of the company"s vision. Knowing the difference between a logo and a brand, it is important that the branding process should be given much thought and consideration. Here are some aspects of the branding process that a company should look at.

The brand tells the story about your business. Why do you exist in the first place and what can you do for your customers? Why are you different from other companies and who is your target population? Answering these questions will help provide you with a platform for your marketing strategy, design, and communication. Next is your logo. The company logo is the visual way of telling your customers the story of the brand. It should be able to attract your target clients. The design of your marketing materials like your website, business card, brochure, and letterhead are also very crucial in the branding process. While the design of your various marketing materials should be somehow consistent, these should be designed in such a way to highlight each other instead of merely blending in. Truly, the brand is way more than just having a logo designed.
