A Brief Introduction To Hot Fix Swarovski Crystal

By: Gen Wright Home | Business

Most people think that crystals are for jewelry that are meant to be worn. Sometimes they are pleasantly surprised to find that crystals can also be attached to fabric to enhance the design of clothing. They are known as hot fix Swarvoski crystals.

Swarovski crystals are a very special type of stone. They can be purchased in a variety of colors - emerald for green, peridot for lime green, sapphire for blue, amethyst for purple, and ruby for red. When you come across the name of a precious stone, you will be able to instantly associate a color with the name. They are the only precious stones with a diamond like appearance, except that they are available in many different colors.

The translucent tendency of the stones allow the light to be refracted within, giving it a radiant glittering quality. Due to their wonderfully beautiful appearances, crystals are widely used in the fashion world as accessories that help give the overall look a more luxurious feel.

Besides being used with chains and rings in jewelry that can be worn, crystals can also be used as precious stones that are attached to clothing. Swarovski hot fix rhinestones come with glue at the back of the stones. When heated, the glue softens and the stones stick on to the fabric. Heat can be applied with special heat wands that come with applicators of various sizes.

Various sizes are necessary because crystals come in many different sizes. Rhinestone sizes are measured in "ss" (stone sizes). The smallest crystals are labeled as size ss5 (less than 2 mm) while the largest crystals are labeled as size ss48 (about 11mm). The decision on size depends on the design.

Before attaching hot fix Swarvoski crystals, always lay out the stones facing upwards, with the glue downwards. This enables you to make any changes to the design before the final attachments are carried out.

Once you are happy with the layout, select the correct tip size for your heat wand. Your heat want should come with hands free support that will help you pick up the stones easily. This is to prevent injuries that can be caused by contact with the heated wand. Do not force the stone into the tip. Ease it gently into the tip and once the stone is picked up, allow the tool to heat the stone for approximately 10 to 12 seconds. You should be able to see the glue become a shiny, lighter shade as it softens. Place the stone on the fabric, and remove the heat wand quickly. This is the time to make any final adjustments to the position if you want. But, remember to do it quickly as the glue will adhere in just a few seconds!

Once adhered to the fabric, the crystals will seem as if it's part of the fabric. Now every time you pick up the piece of clothing, a string of glittering stones are already attached to it, giving it .
