A Detoxification Diet

By: Cecelia Wong Home | Health-and-Fitness | Nutrition

While healthy people may be able to go on a detox diet, not have any complications, and potentially even benefit from it, a person that is not at their best should see a doctor before taking part in it.

When discussing detoxification many think of a lengthy fast, consuming nothing but water. Even though fasting only with water is good it can be to extreme for most people and isn't always the best method. Relieving fatigue is another reason to pursue body detox methods. By using detox methods such as detox foot patches and detox recipes, one can aid in alleviating fatigue which has been plaguing them in the past.

I highly recommend this herbal blend and easy detoxification process to anyone who is interested in physical and spiritual cleansing. Here's what I found: Herbal lung detoxes are designed to promote a healthy respiratory system by cleansing and detoxifying the lungs and bronchial passages.

A detoxification diet is usually very simple, consisting, of whole foods, fruits, vegetables, grains, lots of water and lean, (non-organ or cured) meats. Salt and sugar is normally not allowed. It is not a starvation diet, but a way to rest and re-balance your system.

Eating foods that are high in sugar and saturated fats, along with too much caffeine and alcohol can trigger premenstrual syndrome (PMS) in many women. PMS is controlled by the hormone estrogen - too much or too little causes moods to fluctuate, depression, anxiety, food cravings and bloating about a week before a period begins.

To help keep estrogen levels balanced, avoid cravings for sweet and salty foods since they will magnify PMS symptoms, notes Sam Graci, nutritional researcher and author of the new book - The Food Connection: The Right Food at the Right Time. Stay away from dairy products and meats that are high in saturated fats, as well as caffeinated beverages, which raise the blood levels of estrogen and cause headaches, irritability and anxiety.

The skin is one of the body's main organs and can eliminate around 10% of all waste from the body. It does this mainly through sweating, we loose moisture through the skin 24/7 even though we're not aware of it. It's a natural process and of course your facial skin is included in this. Detox Diets are recommended for improving resistance to disease, mental state, digestion, strengthens the organs involved in detox. Some water soluble toxins may escape the liver detoxification, but these are then eliminated through the kidneys. Your skin too helps in the process of body detoxification by eliminating toxins through sweat and skin rashes.

Alcohol withdrawal symptoms can range from uncomfortable to life threatening, depending on the severity of the addiction, and detoxification can help with this process. It is important to detox your body on a regular basis in order to purify yourself, on the inside and out. Therefore, detoxification is the process of cleansing one's self through various body detox means. There are a few different ways to engage in body detox and reasons to detox your body which will be described in the paragraphs which follow.

To help reduce symptoms of PMS and balance estrogen levels, eat at least two to three servings of colourful fruit and a large leafy green salad, along with whole grains such as oatmeal or seven-grain cereal. These foods are high in fibre, which helps keep estrogen levels balanced. In addition, start each day with a nutritional supplement such as greens+™, a balanced formula of 23 vitamins, minerals, organic and nutrient-rich foods. One serving of greens+ is the equivalent of six organic salads. The nutritional supplement also packs plenty of natural soy ingredients, which contain phytoestrogens to keep estrogen levels balanced.

In addition to fibre and soy, eat plenty of "good" fats - Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids (EFA). Fish such as salmon or tuna are the best source of these EFAs, which are said to help reduce headaches, irritability and anxiety.

We are aiming here to rid the body of garbage therefore it's important to make the diet as light and healthy as possible but to have something you can live with for at least 2 weeks. It's no good going on a herbal tea and brown rice diet if you can only do it for two days!

Another body detox method which you can use when you wish to detox your body is detox recipes which are available in detox cookbooks. As certain foods work to detoxify one's body and rid the individual of the various toxins within, these foods can be combined in such a manner in which to work together to get the full body detox results.

More on detox diets at http://www.diet-detox.info Detox diets are designed to help your body rid itself of the toxic matter buildup and lose weight. If you feel sluggish, have frequent colds, digestive problems or just aren't feeling your best, you may have a toxicity issue. A detox diet will help you clean the harmful matter from your body and lose weight.

The important thing to remember is that not all things that are good for the body are going to feel nice. Sometimes it has to hurt if it is to heal! Most people that complete a detox program will tell you that a little gas and a few headaches is a small price to pay for the increase in health and wellbeing that many receive. Detox diets vary, but they typically advise restriction of the diet to raw vegetables, fruit, water and yoghurt

Most contend that the cravings for alcohol, both physical and psychological, will remain long after it is out of the system. Counseling and continued treatment is required to help the patient change their attitudes and resist returning to alcohol use.
