A Dog For Tired Dogs

By: Randi M Home | Shopping-and-Products

Do you notice the difference when you walk on natural terrain as compared to when you walk on cement sidewalks? There is actually a huge difference. Believe it or not, your feet are made more for walking on curved surfaces that they are for walking on flat hard surfaces. But flat, hard surfaces are easier to stand up straight on, so our ancestors put planks down in their homes and started making flat sidewalks and roads. The foot, however, gets more stressed from walking over the hard surfaces than it does from walking over softer ground. Hush Puppies are one of the best brands of shoes available to help your feet handle the shock of every day life.

History of Hush Puppies

Hush Puppies began in 1958. A company called Wolverine Worldwide was trying to find a way to tan pigskin for the military. Because pigskin is believed to be the most durable of animal leathers, the government had contracted the company to make gloves and a bunch of other protective gear for their soldiers. Instead, the inventors working on the project discovered a way to make comfortable, strong shoes.

They started selling the shoes, but didn't have a name for them until one day when their sales manager, James Muir, headed to the southeast in order to try to sell the product. During a dinner with his salesmen, he was served a fried cornball that was called a hush puppy. Intrigued, Muir asked how the fried treat got the name, and was told that farmers would throw the food to their dogs in order to stop them from barking. The term "barking dogs" is often used to describe sore feet. Muir knew that the new, comfortable shoes had to be called Hush Puppies, because they were so comfortable that they, too, could "quiet barking dogs".

Hush Puppies Now

Hush Puppies now are the same high-quality and comfortable shoes that they were oh so many years ago. The styles, however, have changed along with the times, so you don't have to worry about wearing an outdated pair of shoes. Take the Tracker. This shoe is waterproof and extremely light. It is made with both a padded foot bed and a gel heel pad, which means that it can take anything you can dish out. You can wear this shoe around the house or out to a ball game. Anywhere you need a shoe with some support and a lot of flexibility, the Tracker will work.

Women can also take advantage of the great Hush Puppy shoes available. Hush Puppy has an entire line of Hush Puppies shoes meant to make them both happy and comfortable. The dress line has shoes like the Optima, which is a classic square toed shoe, complete with a slightly wider heel to help with stabilization and the comfort that Hush Puppies has become known for.

When it comes to having shoes that not only look great, but feel great, Hush Puppy is the company to discover. Their shoes will make all shoe lovers extremely happy.
