There's never a time, it seems, when people aren't looking for a way to make life better. But the demand for life improvement help appears to be especially high now. Turmoil and hardship seem to be happening in every corner of the world - even those places that were thought to be standards for stability and opportunity are straining. These appear to be scary times, and people are feeling insecure and afraid. They want help. Is there any to be had? As is happens, a form of help known as ho'oponopono is gaining in notoriety and popularity. Ho'oponopono could be fairly described as metaphysical or New Age. It's not a classic approach, in other words. But that's not the same as saying it doesn't have much benefit. People around the world believe strongly in the beneficial properties of ho'oponopono, and the number of advocates for the method continues to grow. The best description for ho'oponopono, probably, is that it's a problem solving technique. The method has been practiced on the Hawaiian Islands for generations, and is still practiced there today. In its classic form ho'oponopono involved groups of people coming together for the purpose of resolving conflicts. The method was updated over the years however, and in its newer form resolution can take place entirely within the individual. The update to the method certainly represents convenience. There's no more greater convenience after all than being able to manage things without needing input from anyone else. But convenience in this case is also a form of power. Ho'oponopono essentially says that we all have within us what we need to resolve problems and end suffering. This isn't the same as the idea of being independent, a notion that some people think of as virtuous. This is much larger than that. This is about the ability to change life circumstances from the inside out. To be fair, ho'oponopono does have critics. As mentioned, the method is not classic in its approach and doesn't necessarily accept the limitations that many people think of as absolute. It's really a case of challenging certain paradigms relating to the life experience itself. Take something like that on, and you're definitely going to run into resistance. At the very least, you'll get a fair amount of being dismissed. Being dismissed however isn't the same as being proven wrong. This isn't meant to be a conversion piece however. If people want to reject ho'oponopono they have every right to do it. Honestly there shouldn't be much concern, if any at all, if people reject the method. Why should there be? Remember no one else is needed in the equation. The method doesn't require some collective force. All that's required is the individual. This is part of the ho'oponopono appeal. Another part of the appeal is outcome. People may initially use ho'oponopono out of curiosity or whatever else, but those who continue to use it do so because they like the results. For some at least, ho'oponopono definitely works.
