A New Breed Of Airlines

By: Wolfgang Jaegel Home |

Hong Kong, dubbed as the 'Pearl of the Orient,' is a special administrative region of People's Republic of China (PRC.) Set among awe-inspiring natural surroundings, the city boasts of a thriving as well as vibrant commercial center. Once a typical fishing village, Hong Kong has now become one of the world's significant trading economies. A strong influence of British culture is prevalent in the area as a result of the former colonial rule. But, at the same time, the city retains its traditional charm as well as the core values of Confucianism.

Located in the south east corner of China, the city consists of four areas: Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, the Outlying Islands, and the New Territories. The island is considered the center of economy, politics, and entertainment in the area. It is also home to some of the finest shopping as well as residential areas in the region. Kowloon is probably the most flourishing region, with exciting nightlife. When comes to the New Territories and the Outlying Islands, they boast of some of the most peaceful as well as natural destinations.

In addition, the city has such a great number of attractions that it is quite difficult to list them all. Just few among many of the attractions are the peak tower with rooftop observation area and Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum; the Bank of China Tower, one of the tallest building in the world.

Wong Tai Sin Temple, an ancient shrine whose surrounding area is dotted with fortune-tellers; the Avenue of Stars, which is beautified with tons of twinkling lights; the Clock Tower - one of the oldest landmarks situated on the site of the old Kowloon Station; Hong Kong Park, with a 1400 sq mt conservatory and Olympic Square; and Statue Square, a popular pedestrian in the central district. Above all, you can enjoy a great number of activities in the city, from helicopter ride and cable car ride to an amazing harbor cruise.

Apart from being a tourist spot with a continuum of attractions, the destination is also a main center of education. With a significant number of international-level educational institutions, many foreigners including British, Canadians, and American study here. Besides, the city is also a great trading center, and as a result, many leading, multinational companies conduct their core business activities here. Hence, it is no wonder why the destination has now become one of the world's most sought after destinations.

Perhaps for these reasons, airline industry in the city is flourishing. In other words, the city boasts of one of the busiest airline industries in the world. Opened its door in 1998, Hong Kong International Airport in Chek Lap Kok is truly a fine example of modern architectural splendor. The airport caters to several domestic and international airlines. It is estimated that this busy airport handles more than 45 flights per hour. Hong Kong International Airport is conveniently connected to the main center through comfy transport systems including the Cityflyer Airbus, the Airport Express Train and the Hong Kong Public Bus Service.

Many of the major airlines operating in Hong Kong provide superb services. Further, many of them such as Hong Kong Oasis Airlines have opened an avenue for a new breed of airlines. Majority of them are dedicated to provide dependably low fares while providing high standards of comfort and service and that too without comprising safety and security. These airlines render non stop services between Hong Kong and such destinations as London. In addition, some of them operate six times in a week between Hong Kong and Vancouver.

Due to the growing number of visitors from many American and European destinations, some airlines are now in the stages for launching direct services between Hong Kong and such cities as Chicago and San Francisco in the US, Berlin and Manchester in Europe, and Melbourne and Sydney in Australia.

Facilities are available to book tickets for traveling, either via online by browsing through their website or through the airline's customer service center. Bookings can also be made through reputable travel agents.
