A Quick Look At An Impact Wrench

By: michael russell Home | Home-and-Family

In the past most of the people who included an impact wrench their tool chest were doing large construction projects or working on vehicles. However, technological advances have made the wrenches must more accessible and functional for people who have small projects that may need to require the use of a socket wrench.

The wrench works beautifully for an individual who is building their own deck or other home project. In the past, most people put their deck together using hammer and outdoor nails. Using the large decking nails often was time consuming and when completed, the deck planks often did not have the stability that was needed. However, using the impact wrench, an individual is able to quickly bolt planks into the deck frame using a 1/2" bolt that will keep the deck plank in place indefinitely.

Sockets that are most commonly used for home DIY projects are 1/2" to 3/8". These sockets fit most of the bolts that would be used for a small to medium home project. The sizes of sockets are available in many different sizes and can be found as bit as 3 1/2" for large construction projects. They are made from a heavy duty tinsile metal that resists shredding.

The wrench is very easy to use. All of the moving parts of the wrench are easily replaced when parts are available. The wrenches are run using electricity or compressed air. An individual will find that they are able to get the wrench and rent a compressed generator very reasonably from a major home improvement store. The air hoses for the wrench are normally purchased separately although in some cases the air hose will be included with the wrench when you purchase it.

When selecting a wrench, it is important that you try it first. The torque of the wrench can be different based on the item that is being bolted and the kind of wrench that is being used. Wrenches today are not as noisy as in the past and are designed to keep the decibel at 65 dpm. When a person uses a piece of equipment that is powered using compressed air, it is always wise to wear ear plugs.

Reading the users manual and warranty will be important. You will want to make sure that replacement parts are available for the wrench and the length of the warranty. When you are comparing wrenches, it will be most beneficial if you choose one that can be repaired easily and has parts readily available.

The manufacturing quality of the wrench will be a factor to consider when selecting your equipment. Quality wrenches are balanced so that when they are being used there is less pressure placed on the wrist of the user. It is important to take all safety precautions when using the wrench.
