A Simple, Effective Way To Lose Belly Fat

By: Al Stevens Home | Health-and-Fitness

I found what, for me, has become the holy grail of losing those stubborn pounds around the belly and waist. It almost seems too easy, so easy, in fact, that I almost feel like I'm cheating somehow when I use this technique. I was skeptical myself when I first read about it, but since it cost nothing and I could do it when I was doing something else, it took neither of the two big obstacles that people constantly use as an excuse to not do something, time and money.

I read about this technique from a health and fitness guru who I respect a lot. He was promoting a booklet that he himself had discovered by accident years before. He was selling the booklet and I would have bought it, but the fact is the technique he briefly described was so simple from the brief explanation that he gave that it seemed ridiculous to take the time to get and read the booklet. From the information he had told I extrapolated how to use the technique. I have to admit it was so simple that I didn't try it right away because it seemed too simple. Like something workable has to be complex? Not true at all.

Staying lean and trim as you age is not easy. You can eat right and exercise and still end up with a "spare tire" around your belly. It doesn't seem fair. That is exactly what was happening to me.

I am 56 years old. As one gets older the metabolism slows down and it does get a little bit more difficult to lose weight. I certainly didn't have a weight problem and I considered myself to be in excellent shape. I run, do wind sprints, jump rope like a boxer, and do lots of body weight calisthenics. I was 6'3 and 233lbs. Not fat at all by most people's standards, but I still had that little "spare tire" which would bug the heck out of me when I'd looked in the mirror. I had been this weight for several years.

That's when I experimented with this new technique. Nothing else changed in my diet or exercise program, only the addition of this technique, so I am absolutely sure from a pragmatic standpoint that it works.

Here it is, free of charge, in its full simplicity. Take a very deep breath and hold it while drawing in and flexing your stomach muscles. Do that as if pulling your belly button into your spine. Then hold it for a second and repeat the action 5 times. Take a 20-30 second break and do it again. Repeat it at least 5 times, or more if so inclined. Do that 2-3 times a day and you will start to feel your stomach getting thinner and the weight coming off. For myself I lost 23 lbs. in 3 ½ months. I didn't even know I had that much to lose.

You can do this in the shower, while you take a walk, while you sit at your computer, or wherever you want. I sometimes do it while I am watering plants outside with the hose or while driving.

I have since expanded my own program to where I hold my breath while flexing for 10 seconds and then do 5 flexes as described above.

This is something I will be doing for the rest of my life because it works. It is also very good for your lungs, and I'm told from the source of the exercises, that it helps regulate your hormones and digestion as well.

This, of course, is not a total fitness program in itself but it is a tremendous boost to what you may already do or it can be a great method of getting started on a fitness program at any age, young or old. And, as I said before, you can't beat the price in terms of money it cost to learn or in time spent to do it. So, I'm sorry, but the only thing I didn't give you is an excuse! Start!
