A Written Credit Dispute Fix Report Makes It Easier For Everyone Involved

If you are a victim of credit card fraud you want to fix it as soon as possible. Let's say for example, that you want to fix this credit dispute report that you filed. You can, actually, by doing the following.

Report the incident to the consumer reporting company (Equifax, TransUnion, Experian). You can have it in writing to record it and also for future reference. Report the information that you feel is inaccurate. Include copies of documents that support your statement that these records are fraudulent. Give copies because it is hard to replace original records. Aside from giving out your complete name and address, the letters you write must strongly identify every item on your report with the claims of your credit dispute fix report. It should also clearly state the facts and explain why exactly you are disputing information that has been reflected on your bill.

Since a credit dispute to be fixed requires a written report, you should enclose copies of the report indicating the items by circling your dispute. Send your later by certified mail in order for you to record what the reporting company gets in their mail. Most importantly, you have to keep copies of these letters and reports. It is the task of the consumer reporting companies to investigate the items you have presented in question. This must be done within 30 days upon the complaint was filed. That is unless the dispute is considered to be a waste of time because of their irrelevance.

All data that is relevant to the investigation must also be forwarded to the credit card service provider to double check the inaccuracy that the credit card holder is stating. After the information has been double checked and compared, the consumer reporting company then decides whether the credit card holder will be liable for payment regarding the damages or not.

After the completion of the investigation, the consumer reporting company's job is to give the credit card holder the results in writing and also a copy of the report, just in case the dispute is brought up again and the results change. If a particular item has been deleted or was changed, the consumer reporting company can no longer return the information into the credit card holder's files if these weren't proven to be complete or accurate.

Upon your request, the consumer reporting company also sends out notices of the corrections for the report in a six month duration. The credit card holder can have copies of the report sent to anyone who has been able to get one in the past two years. This is for employment purposes. If the investigation was not resolved and there is still a dispute between the credit card holder, the consumer reporting company and the credit card service provider, the credit card holder can request for a copy of the statement to back up his claims of fraud.

The reason why we're suggesting that all complaints and reports be done in writing is that then there is a written record of all disputes as well as the results of the credit. At least, by having these written down, there are documents that fully support your position. Many credit card service providers require documents that can back up the credit card holder's claim of a mistake occurring in his bill.

Just make sure that your report regarding negative information is accurate. A consumer reporting company can get feedbacks based on the accuracy of the negative information printed in your bill for duration of seven years.

Information regarding unpaid bills against the credit card holder can be reported by the credit card service provider even after seven years have passed. There is no time limit when it comes to reporting criminal convictions. As instructed by law, credit repair organizations are required to give the credit card holders copies of the consumer credit file before they sign any contract that binds them with the credit card service provider; there should also be a written contract that states the obligations and rights of the credit card holder to the credit card provider and vice versa. If all these procedures are done, then there is a possibility that the credit dispute can be fixed as soon as the report has been filed.
