By: Chris Connell. Home | Arts-and-Entertainment

With over 20 years of experience, Aaron Speiser operates one of the Best Acting Schools in Los Angeles and Hollywood. He coaches and teaches actors at all levels, from the beginner who has never taken an acting class to Academy Award winning veterans.

1. Why should an actor take a Basic Acting Technique Class?
â€Actors need to take a basic technique class because it creates a foundation that will help build the rest of their career. It’s a little like running a marathon. Few people can run the distance without first increasing their skills and endurance through training and practice,†says Speiser. He states that learning the proper techniques and having a strong foundation will increase the actor’s ability to develop believable characters as well as hone such basic acting skills as character objectives, actions and motivation.

â€An actor’s job is to create life in imaginary circumstances,†says Speiser. â€We’ve all seen TV shows and films where you just didn’t believe an actor’s portrayal. Those actor’s careers are often short-lived.†According to Speiser, once an actor learns and practices the proper techniques, it will help them to sustain a long successful career.

2. What level should an actor be at when coming in for this type of class?
Students at any level should take a technique class. When the relatively unknown Jennifer Lopez first branched out into acting world, she started at the beginning - in Speiser’s Basic Technique class. Since then, no one can deny she’s become wildly successful in her career and the entertainment business. Speiser also coached Academy Award nominee, Will Smith, on Basic Technique, even though he was already a veteran actor. Working on his basic technique, according to Smith, has added more depth and complexity to his character portrayals.

3. Should they have some acting knowledge or is it okay if they are total beginners?
Basic technique is designed to train anyone from the complete novice who is inspired by their dream to make it in Hollywood, to the experienced professional who wants to advance their career by adding more substance to their performance.

4. What can a class like this do for an actor?
Studying acting is like studying everyday life. The more you explore and come to know about yourself, the more you learn. Actors in Technique class learn about emotional and behavioral reactions and how it affects their lives. In studying acting technique, you examine your own life experiences and how they may relate to the characters you portray. You also learn how to empathize and not judge characters. Students expand their horizons and learn to think â€outside the box†from a totally different point of view. These skills are useful not just in acting but in any career field.

5. Is this for actors who want to do TV, film or theater or all?
A Technique class is for all students interested in acting TV, film and theater but at the Aaron Speiser Acting Studio, classes are specifically focused on film and TV acting.

People know that it takes dedication and lots of hard work in any career field to become successful. The acting field is no exception. From marathons to slam dunking a basketball, the experts all agree - including Aaron Speiser, nominated by Backstage as LA’s best acting coach - those who learn the proper techniques help ensure their career success.
