By: Ronen David Home |

The diagnosis of schizophrenia disorder can be devastating to both those affected and those closest to them. There is no cure for schizophrenia instead the focus is on making the symptoms better. The fear of being judged causes those with schizophrenia to try and hide the disease from those close to them. Accepting the schizophrenia disorder is one of the hardest things for those that have been diagnosed with it to do.

The life of someone with schizophrenia disorder is hectic for them. They experience fear and confusion on a regular basis; until the time they received the diagnosis they had no idea what was causing them to do the things that they were doing.

Education is the first step in accepting the schizophrenia disorder after you have been diagnosed. Finally receiving a diagnosis allows you to put a name to the feelings and actions that have seemed beyond your control up until this time.

The denial that went with the initial diagnosis has to pass before the process of acceptance can begin. Treatments have to be done on a regular basis and they should be something that you can stick to so you there is an actual improvement in your symptoms.

In order to fully accept that you have this disorder you have to tell those closest to you. They are going to have to help you for there to be a noticeable change in your condition. You are not going to be able to cope as well if you are alone and coping is a part of acceptance so allow them to help you. Those around you have to accept your diagnosis as well.

The people closest to you can fall into a state of denial as well. It could be beneficial to them to find a support group as well. They will need to be strong to help you though this and they must be reminded to take care of themselves. They are not going to be any use to you or themselves if they get run down.

The acceptance of the schizophrenia disorder is going to take patience. It is not going to happen quickly, it is going to take time. Accepting the schizophrenia disorder is the only way that you can show any improvement in the symptoms that you are experiencing.
