Acupuncture To Treat Chronic Asthma

By: Gen Wright Home | Health-and-Fitness

Asthma can be truly bothersome and patients suffering from such an ailment cannot perform their duties well, or say asthma is depriving them of a normal healthy life. Most often, asthma is being treated with conventional drugs in the form of inhaled medications, syrup, or nebulized medicines.

Although these medications somehow give temporary relief to asthmatic patients, its long term use can develop into harmful side effects that could lead to more damage to the patient's body.

Thus, more and more patients suffering from chronic asthma have turned to alternative therapies such as traditional Chinese medicine or acupuncture to relieve them of their condition at the same time rejuvenate the other vital parts of their body's system.

Acupuncture has been proven effective in the treatment of a wide range of ailments including chronic asthma.

Acupuncture is the most commonly used traditional Chinese medicine all over the world. This traditional treatment originated from China from thousands of years ago and is now slowly gaining ground and accepted by Western medicine as an effective alternative therapy.

The concept of acupuncture focuses on the energy flow of the body which runs in opposing forces, the positive and negative or the yin and yang. Ailments such as chronic asthma is a manifestation of an imbalance of the body's energy forces and through acupuncture, the points will be stimulated with fine needles to restore the body's natural balance.

Acupuncture uses specialized needles to stimulate the acupuncture points located in the energy path of the body system, also known as the meridians. The body's vital energy is known as Qi. The acupuncture points are associated with the specific organ systems in the body.

Acupuncture offers a holistic approach, although acupuncture points that are associated with asthma are given extra attention, the entire acupuncture session actually stimulates the other points to revitalize and revive the body's hormonal balance.

Asthma is more than just a common respiratory problem but rather it is a sickness that involves the overall health and the body's immune system. Asthma is often triggered by allergies when a person has a very weak immune system.

Based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, illnesses such as asthma are caused by a disturbance in the body's energy flow, or the flow of Qi throughout the body.

Ancient China believes only the "sifu", also known as the Master or Healer, has the skill to determine where the energy blockage is located. Today, professional acupuncturists are deemed as the modern day "sifu".

Patients with chronic asthma find acupuncture as a more wholesome treatment and a safer alternative.

Moreover, according to ancient science, the balance of energy flow does not only concern the body but also the environment, for instance an office with imbalanced energy flow gives off negative vibes and may result to the poor health of workers.
