As we all know, affiliate marketing is a great way to make money online, especially for the newer marketers as you don't need specific knowledge or know-how like you would need to create your own product. All you need is a few emails written and put into an autoresponder and a list to promote to. However, I have been moved to write this article purely because I am asked the same question around 10-15 times a week, at least. What is this question? 'How do I know I am promoting the right product, and if I am not what sort of products should I promote?' The answer to this question isn't exactly set in stone but there are a few things you should keep in mind, these are… Never Promote a Product With a High Refund Rate. This really should go without saying, yet I find that time and time again people are promoting products with refund rates well into 50%+. This is really not the best thing to do. The high refund rate clearly shows you that the product either doesn't do what is said it does on the sales page or it is one of those 'Blind' products which promises the world and simply does not deliver. With a refund rate this high you simply aren't going to make the money you should have, at least 50% of this profit will have to be given back in the refund period, so that new car you thought you had the money for is now even further away. All of this is hard enough, not to mention the fact that your subscribers now associate you with this poor product and are unlikely to be as responsive as they were before. Now, on to the next thing to keep in mind… Never Promote a Product Where the Creator Has a Poor Reputation. This, once again, should go without saying. Basically, you do not want to associate yourself online with someone with a poor reputation. Their product may be the best thing since sliced bread and could benefit your subscribers greatly, but if your subscribers have had bad experiences with the creator in the past then they simply will not buy and the reputation you had with them will be gone. Most people online learn the hard way that reputation is everything, it is also very easy to lose and once lost is extremely hard to gain. Do not fall into the same trap others have fell into, do not promote these products. Now, on to the final thing you must bare in mind… Only Promote Products Which Benefit Your Subscribers. This is a little more difficult to work out but as before should really go without saying. You will all have heard at one point online that 'the list is everything' or 'the money is in the list' this is true. Many people online see their list as simple another way of generating traffic and cash, what they forget is that these are actually real people who, like themselves, are all looking for good products to buy to further their online business. What you must remember is that this list is the difference between a good promotion or a bad one. To keep your list happy you must only promote products which they will find useful and helpful, don't just look for the product with the highest affiliate commissions. Always keep in mind that if you wouldn't spend your money on a product, then chances are your subscribers won't either. Affiliate marketing can be a highly profitable online business and if you keep these three things in mind when deciding to promote a product online then you will only be promoting the best.
