Air Hockey: Innovative Table Entertainment

Air hockey is regarded as an all season game which offers a complete source of entertainment for friends and family members. Air hockey is an aggressive and competitive sport which is well popular with adults and children.
Originally the game was conceptualized to create a surface which offered no friction. This idea for formulated by a group of three engineers Crossman, Kendrick and Baldwin in Brunswick. They worked for several years on the concept of creating a frictionless surface where it was easy to stop a rolling ball. The whole inspiration was to proffer a replica of actual hockey in a table form. This stimulation got the fancy of many people who were fascinated about the whole concept of table hockey.

It was Bob Lemieux the fourth member of the team who introduced puck and mallets used in actual hockey to work revelation in this version of the game. And the idea worked and its popularity took the market by a big storm. According to various evidences Houston Air Hockey Association was formed in 1973 to offer a platform to the game.

This instantaneous archetypal was then patented in 1975 which later on was turned into a spirited sport with Air Hockey Tournaments taking place every year at varied levels. 1975 also saw the formation of Air-table Hockey Association or USAA which also laid the dos and don’ts of the game.
