Airbeds Are The Best Way To Guarantee A Good Night's Sleep On The Festival Circuit

By: Dominic Donaldson Home |

No matter how many promises of improved facilities the 'Festival' experience always turns into something to be endured for the sake of seeing your favourite bands and is always a disappointment in almost every department except the one marked music.

However there are a few choice items that you can easily take with you to minimise the disappointment. Relying on the facilities that are on site might work for a day of two, but at the latter end of any festival or camping trip if you haven't had the foresight to plan for every eventuality then your overriding memory will be of sleepless nights and not your favourite band.

Items like wet wipes, bottled water, energy bars and warm clothes should be essential items on any camping trip, especially camping at a festival where the opportunity to get things last minute is limited due to the fact that you have to remain on site or make a long journey to the nearest town or village. But the most important area is undoubtedly sleeping arrangements
Airbeds would once have seemed like a luxury for a camping trip, especially a camping trip that was part of a music festival. Airbeds aren't very rock 'n' roll after all. But how rock 'n' roll is a bad back and an exhausted feeling after spending a night on a hard floor unable to sleep?

The fact is that airbeds are now cheap enough and small enough to take up very little space in a bag or rucksack and are as much an essential item on any camping trip as a waterproof jacket or torch. There are also quite a few on the market these days to cater for their growing popularity.

A basic airbed will set you back about twenty pounds. For this you'll get a durable, comfortable, single airbed that can be easily inflated using a small foot pump or battery operated device. As the market in airbeds gets more competitive the more you'll get for your money and many airbeds, even at the lower end of the market, now come with a built in pump.

For about thirty pounds you could go that bit further and treat yourself to a double size blow up mattress. The benefit over a single mattress is obvious; a bigger airbed could mean a better night's sleep. If you don't find it easy to sleep even in the best conditions it could be money well spent and might be the difference between waking up in a good mood and waking up with a sore head. Of course if you are camping with a partner then one double airbed as opposed to two singles is not only cheaper but takes up less room as well.

If you are looking for something a little less basic and you feel like splashing out then there is also something on the market for you. For about one hundred pounds you can get a self inflating double sized airbed that is puncture resistant, easy to store and very comfortable. If you are a regular camper it might be money well spent as often these type of beds last years and come with a good warranty.

If all that seems a little over indulgent or just too much to carry you really should think about how you might feel after you've had to lie awake on a cold floor for three nights just because you didn't want to spend the price of a few beers or a promotional t-shirt on an airbed. The fact is that an airbed should be the first item on your list of essentials.
