All About Acne In Women

By: karlaamerson Home | Health-and-Fitness | Acne

There are several reasons for acne in women. Most common among them are related to the menstrual cycles in females. Usually pre menstrual acne is caused due to the androgens which have been over stimulated. During periods a woman's oil producing glands work overtime and end up producing more oil than necessary. An oily face always attracts acne and because menstrual cycles cause oily skin, acne may be caused as an after affect. However, this acne can be treated easily without much effort.

Apparently pregnant women also face acne problems even though there is a lack of the monthly menstrual periods. Actually, this may be a reason why they get acne, and the lack of periods might be causing it. Many people believe that the acne that occurs due to menstrual cycles are caused due to impure blood or impurities in the blood. But during pregnancy if acne's do occur it is advised that the pregnant woman speaks with her gynecologist and her physician, who would be able to advise her about the next course of action.

There are several methods available for the treatment of adult acne. Some include antibiotics while others are just cream applications. It is a common belief among women that birth control pills treat acne, and it is a common method of treatment used by women because the birth control pills control the excess androgens which is a big cause for pimples and other kinds of acne.

Despite this, birth control pills should not be used by sexually inactive people and also by teenagers who just want to avoid acne. Proper consultation is required before starting to use the birth control pills. However, it should be noted that men and women are not different when it comes to acne, as it is equally bad for both.
