All About Invasive Spinal Surgery

By: Raman Home | Health-and-Fitness | Acne

Invasive spinal surgery has gradually emerged as a viable alternative for conventional spine surgeries. So long, people had to fall back on the old form of surgery since they did not have any other better option. Going for a traditional spine operation meant staying in the hospital for at least a week, coping with a distinct scar and a lengthy recovery period. However, all these things have become a thing of the past thanks to this advanced form of surgery that has come up in recent times.

The method in which, minimally invasive spine surgery is performed is much simpler than their conventional counterparts. Unlike traditional surgeries, they do not make use of long incisions. In this process, a thin telescopic instrument is used which is known as endoscope. This instrument is put inside the patient"s body with the help of small incisions. There is a small video camera connected to the endoscope which does the job of giving a comprehensive view of the inside of the concerned patient"s body. Based on the view displayed on the television screen, the surgery is executed. These operations are performed by spine surgeons certified by the Spine Centers of America Board. This implies that they are experts in their field and are competent to deal with such surgeries.

There are a number of factors that work in favor of minimally invasive surgery on spine. Firstly, it does not leave major scars on your body. Surely, a large scar does not look good and keeps reminding you of the troubled time you went through in the recent past. Here, you only have to contend with some tiny scars that do not look prominent at all and you can easily hide them with appropriate dressing and make-up. Moreover, there is practically no need of staying in the hospital for long. You only require a few days for the purpose unlike the customary one week in case of conventional spine operation.

You have already had your share of pain on spine which compelled you to take the route of surgery. You would definitely not want to prolong the experience of lower back pain even after the surgery. This can be achieved with invasive spinal surgery. You would be thrilled to know that there is much lesser post operative pain in this operation. That explains why more and more people are opting for this relatively new method of operation in order to eliminate their back pain.
