Many homes in the UK are fortunate to own their own computer and printer. From typing up word documents and excel spreadsheets, to sending emails and surfing the web, the computer has become an invaluable accessory within the home. Without a printer, it is difficult to produce the reports we worked on for our Monday morning meeting, or the directions we need for driving to our friend\'s new home. With so many different varieties to buy, all with different functions, it\'s worth taking a moment to consider the ink cartridges that help transfer your words from the screen on to paper. In today\'s world, printers are something we can\'t do without. We\'ve all been there, desperate to print something from our computer and frustrated by the message popping up on screen that our printer is out of ink. It\'s moments like this you realise how much we depend on our printer and ink cartridges. Ink cartridges are available in all manner of colours, however most machines will include black ink, some with colour. By inserting the correct one in our machines, tiny sized droplets of the ink get pushed through multiple holes made in the ink cartridges onto paper in a perfectly controlled mechanism to print our letters or desired images. In days gone by this could take a little time, as we\'d stand by the printer and painfully and slowly watch the images come to life. With advancing technology, the speed at which our printers work has fortunately improved and we can now expect to receive each printed page within seconds. Like most products, there are many different brands of ink cartridges available in the market, from well known names such as HP, Epson, Dell, Canon, Xerox, Brother, and Lexmark to home brands. To get the most from both your printer and your ink cartridge, it\'s recommended you keep to matching products. This will ensure they complement each other to produce the best quality print jobs possible from your equipment. To avoid the scenario of running out of ink, it\'s best to keep extra supplies of ink cartridges at home or work. One ink cartridge should be sufficient to print approximately 200 to 250 copies, depending on what you are printing and the quality of ink, paper and printer used. It\'s important to change the cartridge as soon as you are asked to by your computer as using a printer when it\'s low on ink can in fact cause damage to your machine. If you\'re looking to buy some ink cartridges, you have a choice of three types. The first is OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer cartridge. Original Equipment Manufacturer cartridges are the ones that come with the printer and are therefore the most suitable you can buy. If you are looking for some high quality printing, perhaps using images, you may like to invest in these ink cartridges. You can also buy compatible ink cartridges. These compatible cartridges are manufactured to meet the particular specifications of original equipment cartridges. Because they are replications however, they are relatively less expensive than OEM cartridges but still produce perfectly good printing results. The third kind of ink cartridges are remanufactured made mostly from recycled OEM cartridges. The quality obviously won\'t be as good as that produced by the original however are a much cheaper alternative. Once the ink runs out in your cartridges, rather than buying brand new again, you can do your bit for the environment and get them refilled. There are a lot of different refilling kits available and are very easy to use. A refilling kit contains compatible ink, an ink syringe or a squeeze bottle, and an instruction manual. Ink cartridges are essential for use of all printers and it\'s therefore important to buy the right ones, to help prolong the life of your printer and produce the highest quality results, every time.
