Alternative Cellulite Treatments

By: Nicola Williams Home |

Cellulite is the 'cottage cheese' like dimpling of the skin caused by the collection of fat cells that are stored underneath the skin. It mostly affects women and is most commonly found on the thighs, legs, stomachs, arms and buttocks. There are many effective cellulite treatments available, including both surgical and non-surgical options.

Many women, in fact, most women, struggle with cellulite as they age. Doctors estimate that over 85% of women suffer from cellulite deposits in their buttocks, thighs, upper arms or stomach. Although it is more common in women over 35 it has been diagnosed in girls at 16 years of age. Some alternative cellulite treatments are designed to work with the developing girls bodies.

Ionithermie detox treatment has proven to be an effective anti cellulite procedure. The process involves electrical stimulation, micronized algae and conductive clay. Results can be seen after the first treatment but multiple treatments are recommended.

Another alternative cellulite treatment that is available is the Synergie cellulite reduction, which uses an FDA approved machine for the reduction of cellulite in a non-invasive technique. In a recent study 100% of women who participated noted a loss of inches from their bodyies and 90% had visible improvements in the smoothness of their skin.

There are also at home alternative cellulite treatments and techniques. These techniques are not new age or require the use of a doctor's prescription. Herbs used in cooking are thought to have antioxidant qualities to reduce cellulite such as Cayenne pepper, juniper berries, black pepper extract, ginger, grape seed, garlic, peppermint tea.

Dry body brushing the affected areas is a very affective way to treat cellulite from home. The bristles might feel a bit harsh at first but after a day or two you get used to it. Body brushing is an excellent way to improve circulation and can be done before showering - for added benefit use a cellulite treatment cream afterwards.

Being overweight is not necessarily a cause of cellulite, in fact many thin people also sufferer from the dreaded 'orange peel' skin as well. However, if you are overweight, losing some weight can help to decrease the level of fat underneath the skin. Even some simple exercise such as a daily walk can help circulation and aid in weight loss.

Unfortunately are no easy ways to get rid of cellulite. Most are time consuming and don't come cheap either. Often the best treatment for cellulite is improving your diet, getting regular exercise, and using a technique such as dry body brushing or massage.
