An Electric Dog Fence Provides Economic And Low Maintenance Safety For Your Dog

By: adair sawyer Home | Home-and-Family | Pets

A dog cage serves as a safe haven for your dog to use as home, to sleep in, or even have a meal in peace. Pets quickly adjust to the space provided for them. Dogs prefer their own space just as humans do and especially after a training session, they love to retire to their own dog cage. Keep your pets safe and protected so that they can wander around the home freely.

There are several types of dog enclosures for safely containing your dog so that it does not end up in the dog pound as it tries to escape from its cage. Depending on the size of your home and the area available to contain your dog or dogs, you can pick up pet containment systems with complete instructions and DIY. Special stores sell dog enclosures at discounted prices and you can choose from the various brands available with them.

The electric dog fence is a great idea to protect your pets and ensure that they limit themselves to safe areas. Invisible dog fences are available in different sizes and can be used to encircle the area to be contained. First determine the size of the electric dog fence that you wish to install. How many dogs do you have and are they big or small? You may have a few dogs of various breeds but that is not a problem as you can get several rechargeable collars for containing all your dogs in the invisible dog cage or fence. Since there are no ongoing battery costs in most cases, you may use these affordable collars to ensure that all your dogs are safely ensconced in the dog cage.

The electric dog fence can also be used to advantage as low maintenance and economic solutions. Ground rods are positioned in close proximity to the electric fence energizer at strategic positions. Battery, solar power, or mains can be used to make them operational. For the proper functioning of the electric dog fence, it is important that the paw of the dog should be on the ground, for it to contact the installed wire or tape. A pulsating current is set off by a timer current which is released along the wire at regular intervals. When your dog tries to escape, a pulse is triggered at the ground rods connected to the wiring circuit. This sets off a static correction which is felt by the animal when it reaches the dog fence. This is similar to a tiny muscle contraction felt with the Tens Machine and does not hurt the dog. It stops the dog from proceeding any further towards the fence. The effect is mild and pretty much like the feeling we experience when we touch something that produces static electricity.

The entire containment system comes with details instructions on installation and maintenance. Check out the size guides to find out the ideal space that needs to be fenced in for your dog to feel at home as well as be safe.
