Sonic 3D Blasts was developed by Traveller's Tale in the United Kingdom. The game's publisher is Sega. Sonic 3D Blast is available in a number of platforms including Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Sega Saturn, Windows, MAX 9, Virtual Console, and Xbox Live Arcade. The Mega Drive version was first released on November 1996 in PAL region. The Genesis and Saturn version was released on November 1996 in USA. The Saturn version was first released on February 1997. The PC version was first released on the 25th September in USA and 30th September in PAL region. The Saturn version was first released on the 14th October 1996 in Japan. The game has single player mode. You can control the character and navigation menu with control pad, joystick and keyboard. There are several items in this game including Rings, Blue Energy Shield, Red Energy Shield, Yellow Energy Shield, Running Shoes and Stars. The rings can be found in packs inside boxes which you can jump on to open. Blue Shields allows you to be hit only once while holding it and you will not lose any rings. The Blue Shields serves as a protection. Red Energy Shield will protect you if you touch fire. If you run through a fire while holding the shield, you will not lost the shield. Yellow Energy shield protects you against homing attack. Running Shoes is located in a box and can be used to boost the running speed of a character. Starts help you to become invincible. Stars allows you to run through lava, spikes and destroy your enemies by running into them. The characters in Sonic 3D Blast are Sonic, Flickies, Knuckles, Tails and Dr. Robotnik. Sonic is the most important character in the game. In this game title the player is only offered the option to play as the blue Blur. He wears red shoes and can move at an incredible speed. In Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic's goal is to save Flickies from the hands of Dr. Robotnik. For those not familiar with the series, Flickies are the tiny magical birds. The flickies are Sonic's friends. In Sonic 3D Blast, Dr. Robotnik had captured them and changed them into evil robots. Knuckles, the echidna is not interested in helping Sonic but he is always there to help Sonic. If you see Knuckles, pay him with some rings and he will help you to enter into a special stage where you can find the Chaos Emerald. Tails is actually named Miles Power. Tails is an orange fox. He works as Sonic's partner. He is just like Knuckles. If you see Tails and pay him some rings, he will bring you into a special stage. Dr. Robotnik is the enemy of Sonic. He is famous for the egg machine which he used to fly around to connect with other robots. In Sonic 3D blast, Dr. Robotnik had captured the Flickies around the world because he wanted to use them to find the Chaos Emeralds. The storyline of Sonic 3D Blast begins when Dr. Robotnik discovered the strange birds, Flickies. When he discover that the Flickies can travel anywhere with large rings, he got an idea to change them into robots to help him find Chaos Emeralds. One day, Sonic went to visit the Flickies. When he finds out that the Flickies are turned into robots by Dr. Robotnik, he begins on his quest to free them and prevent Dr. Robotnik's from obtaining the Chaos Emerald.
