Trying to clearly define the difference between anxiety cures and panic attack cures seems necessary to me because there are clear differences and there are some benefits to their clarification. If you have been following my line of logic regarding anxiety and these attacks you might have an idea of what is coming next. In case you haven't read my blog posts or articles before let me quickly fill you in. I had elevated anxiety and attacks for six years. Toward the end of those years I devised a way to stop ny panic attacks. So, in effect, I had a panic attack "cure." Not so for my anxieties. They persisted after the "attacks" were gone. I say anxiety is fear. It is my opinion but I think it is a fact, too. Anxiety is fear. Low anxiety is low fear. Big anxiety is big fear. Outrageous, out of control anxiety is panic. Anxiety is the birthplace of panic. Panic attacks and anxiety attacks are essentially the same. Again, it's my opinion that, counterintuitively, panic attacks are the easiest anxiety to get rid of completely. That's how it went for me. To me, a cure equals completely gone. But I also say that, in my opinion, anxiety can't be cured. It CAN be reduced. Reduced in some cases, to such a low level as to feel "gone." That certainly "feels" like a cure and it's what is often referred to as "normal." So what is the point of this discussion brings us to. I advise that you cure your panic attack first and then start on reducing anxiety. Panic attacks are anxiety born but I maintain that they cause or aggravate your anxieties due to the fact that the FEAR of panic attacks coming back is the CAUSE of panic attacks and fear is anxiety so kill off those panic attacks first! It's just because panic attacks impact your anxieties AND panic attacks are easy to stop. This is my opinion and I think it's the best way tp proceed. Sure, you could try to ignore your panic attacks and see if working on reducing anxiety would have a positive effect on your panic attacks. It might. But remember, panic attacks aggravate anxiety, and, as much as anxiety is the birth mother of panic maybe we should just start there! One of the aspects of anxieties that I found interesting was that, what seems to be the worst form of anxiety, panic, was the easiest one to stop, and, as far as I could see, was the only anxiety that could be made to be gone or completely cured. All other anxieties seem to live in a "normal" range and are not completely "gone." So...what are you going to do? If you are inclined to take my advice, as many have done, you start by getting rid of your panic attacks! And how do you do that? You do that by getting rid of the fear of panic attacks themselves and the fear of the panic attacks returning. You can get this done and get your life back! Copyright (c) 2009 Riley West
