Are You Ready To Lose Excess Fat Weight?

By: Gen Wright Home | Health-and-Fitness

For many years we have been told if we wish to lose body fat all we need to do is go on a 'diet' of some sort and throw in some activity like walking to hasten the process. This sounds so easy but the problem is it does not work 95 percent of the time.

A thing called 'diet shock' is what stops this process being effective. "What is diet shock" you will be saying about now. It is a state your body goes into when it switches on what is known as the 'survival mode' to protect itself from what it perceives as starvation.

It does not know you only want to fit into your skinny jeans and thinks a major food shortage is looming. So, it lowers the metabolic rate and holds on to its body fat stores instead using precious muscle tissue for energy and to further lower the metabolism. Muscle tissue is highly active so getting rid of some of it means less energy demands on the body to help survive the famine.

This is not good as the last thing you need is your body holding on to every scrap of fat - you want it gone don't you? Well there is a better way to lose fat weight that is the reverse of all this. The idea is to burn off the fat rather than try and starve it off by increasing the metabolic rate rather than decreasing it.

There is only one way to do this and that is to rebuild and re-tone your muscles. This is where blood sugars and fats are burnt for energy and the health and condition of your muscles is vital to the efficient burning off these things.

The only way to reboot your muscles to ramp up their fat burning potential is with strength training exercise. Long duration low intensity activities like walking will not do this so do not expect these results unless you work your muscles directly through their ranges of movement with adequate resistance.

Strength training exercise is so effective it can get your fat burning machinery burning an additional 50 -100 calories a day. This may not sound much but it is the difference between being slim and trim or overweight and could well be the very reason that has caused you to become overweight.

It means you are simply not doing enough muscle building and maintaining activity which most people do not do in our modern sedentary world stripped of all of its 'work' to make it 'easy' and 'convenient' for us.

If you support your proper exercise program with good nutrition your results will be faster than if you eat a diet of mainly processed foods. These non-nutrient foods will never get you a strong, lean healthy body and you will simply not have the energy and strength to put some effort into your exercise program anyway.

The human body can not function properly without good healthy food choices that are not laden with toxic chemicals and additives. So if you truly want to lose weight and get into better physical shape you will need to make some changes to your eating as well. But it can be done slowly over a period of time just swapping unhealthy choices for better ones then it does not seem so difficult.

Strength training exercise is your greatest asset for long term weight loss and for future weight management. Combine that with healthy food choices and watch the fat melt off revealing that sleek model you dream of. And there is a very good chance that you are going to love the journey.
