Aromatherapy And Homoeopathy: The Natural Approach To Clear Skin

By: Roberto Bell Home | Health-and-Fitness | Acne

Treating the symptoms of the imbalance using conventional acne skin care products may offer temporary relief, but it will not treat the internal imbalance. In order to get rid of acne permanently, and heal the body itself from the inside out, less conventional methods of healing may be necessary. Two such methods are aromatherapy and homoeopathy, two of the oldest known methods of treating acne.

Aromatherapy has been considered an effective method for treating acne since ancient times. There are many different essential oils such as jojoba oil or lavender oil that can be used for aromatherapy, but one of the most effective is tea tree oil, available from all good natural health shops. Tea tree oil is known for its antiseptic and anti fungal properties, both of which make it an effective acne fighter. Furthermore, it also has antiviral and antibacterial properties, meaning that it is effective at killing the bacteria that cause acne. Tea tree oil's effectiveness has been medically proven. In the 1990s, an Australian Medical Journal study showed that using a 5% concentration of benzoyl peroxide or a 5% concentration of tea tree oil on the face can diminish acne to the same extent, though the tea tree oil may take a little longer to work. However, tea tree oil has less negative side effects associated with it.

Other oils that can be used effectively include sandalwood, lavender, myrrh and ylang ylang, all of which posses acne-fighting properties. To utilise these properties, it is necessary to drop a few drops of your chosen oil into a steam bath or basin of hot water. You can then rest your face over the basin, letting it absorb the acne-fighting steam. Be careful not to scald yourself, however.

The homoeopathic way of thinking is becoming more popular, even in medical circles. This is because homoeopathy recognises that acne is a symptom of a deeper internal imbalance or problem that must be remedied using traditional homoeopathic remedies. Rather than treating the symptom, homoeopathy treats the cause by stimulating the body's own ability to heal itself. The skin may experience an acne outbreak when homoeopathic treatment begins, but this is due to the body cleansing and detoxifying itself. After this, there should be noticeable improvement in the quality of the skin.

These natural methods, used in conjunction with a strong acne fighting medicine like Zyporex, may provide relief from acne. As always, it is recommended that you consult with a qualified medical practitioner before embarking on any new course of acne treatment.
