Article Writing For Free Targeted Traffic

By: Brian Ankner Home | Writing-and-Speaking

Most marketers know that article writing is a good way to get links back to and exposure for your web site. A secondary effect of article writing is credibility as an authority on the subject. People feel more comfortable purchasing from someone that actually knows what they are talking about. Article writing can accomplish this in short order.

Sometimes just a handful of articles concisely written will attract dozens of visitors daily for years, provided you properly submit the article to a large and varied group of article directories.

Each directory has a unique following, submitting to only a few will produce limited results. By submitting to 40-100 different directories it will give you a much better exposure not to mention the extra backlinks from highly ranked directory sites.

There are several good services available online that will submit your articles to hundreds of directories for you at a price. Free submission will take a bit of time but is very much worth the time spent.

Article writing can become monotonous if you are trying to write about subjects that you are not familiar with. You must do a sufficient amount of research in the field of what you are promoting or the articles will read like a novice.

In most cases, unless you are a seasoned professional in the area, a percentage of the people reading your article will know more about the subject than you do and they will spot a novice right off. In this case they will not give you enough respect to buy from you. Remember the saying, you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time?

The same is true when writing articles for website or salespage promotion. Readers that know as much as you do about the subject are in the buying group, they know what they want and are looking for it. The ones that are easily fooled by a novice writer are still in the tire kicking or beginner stage, probably not up to the purchasing level.

Most people will search for what they want trying to get it for free. After an amount of research, they find out that in order to get anything good you have to buy it. So by the time they have gotten to your article, and eventually salespage, chances are they have read quite a few professionally written articles on the subject and will spot a poorly written or not fully researched article thus loosing their respect for your authority.

Most articles that come from software look like novice articles. Don't get me wrong, I use an article writing software at times for certain subjects or to get the base for an article. Most software will search the web or private article databases for corresponding keywords and return sentences matching those keywords.

The downside of this is that no unique thoughts are produced. When using software add your own personality to the article you are writing. When the reader goes to the site that you created they will recognize the same style in both.

When writing articles for article marketing purposes you must understand that it will take many articles to produce any kind of sustainable results. Just writing four or five articles and expecting a flood of traffic to your sites is a fantasy.

Whether you get traffic from the articles or not, they will all produce great backlinks which will move you up in the search engines and get you traffic that way. So keep on writing articles and submitting them on a regular basis and before you know it the amount of traffic will surprise you.
