As of late a large amount of over weight people have started to use Dr.Atkins diet, and the final results that majority of them achieved have resulted in a big publicity.

Fundamentals of Dr.Atkins diet

The diet of Dr.Atkins is founded on a premise of cause behind why we gain excess fat. In theory by Dr. Atkins, eating large amount of simple sugars and carbohydrates causes weight gain. The way in which our body system handle the simple carbohydrates and sugars that are included in our regular diet is more significant then the calories we consume.

In an Atkins diet book, there are many references to occurrence which he calls the insulin resistance. The theory is that over weight people have a problem with their cells and that their cells cease to perform as good as they should.

When we eat too much sugars and carbohydrates, our bodies notice that amounts of sugar are very high. Insulin is produced by the pancreas gland as a way to build up sugar in a nature of glycogen. That same sugar is then being stockpiled in our muscles and liver for spare energy afterward in case we need it.

The drawback is that our bodies can not store unlimited amount of glycogen. The minute that we reach this threshold our bodies start save it as fat, us elater on.

Even so insulin resistant group of people have a yet harder time collecting carbohydrates. As our body is exposed to even more insulin, it slowly becomes immune to it. Your body cells are in fact protecting them selves from high amounts of insulin doing this. That is the reason why, they manufacture more fat and smaller amount of glycogen.

As a result insulin resistant individuals begin to gain additional weight. The cause for this is that the carbohydrates are transformed into fat and not energy. Usual side effects are increased blood sugar, low blood sugar, sleepiness, fatigue, lack of focus, bad memory, intestinal bloating and depression.

What's more insulin resistance has the ability to cause you many more health problems then just having a few pounds more.

Very good treatment for insulin resistant people is a diet low in carbohydrates. And that is the main aspect of Atkins diet, limited intake of carbohydrates. Here are some of the restricted foods: all simple sugars (basically all sweets including sodas) and also some complex carbohydrates (grains, rice and bread).

Every so often even carbohydrates good for you such as whole grain bread and rice can be completely left out.

What Dr.Atkins diet do is that it places a limit to your daily carbohydrate intake to maximum of 40 grams daily. The end product that this has on your body is that it puts your body in a ketosis state.

What exactly is a ketosis? Basically it is a state when your body uses fat for fuel. One more substantial ketosis consequence is that it has a high effect on an insulin production, which puts a stop to extra fat storing.

Combined this will push the body to start burning fat as a highly economical fuel source and that will have as result a weight loss.

During ketosis, you will as well go through much less sugar cravings. It happened to all of us, you begin eating candy bar and there is no way for you to stop. Over time as you consume always more of carbohydrates you carb cravings will increase.

A lot of individuals who have tried Atkins diet have testified on a good deal lesser want for carbohydrates then before the diet. Even so you must be avare that the primary stage of Dr.Atkins diet is fairly restricted, and actually arduous for many individuals to follow. For that reason many of them give up or do not reach satisfactory results. If you try to look at it from the right perspective, Dr.Atkins diet will show you how to return the balance to your diet in the long run.

If you see it in this way you are going to succeed and will experience a substantial reduction in body fat. Eventually as you progress you are going to yet again start to reintroduce carbohydrates to your everyday diet, but is you will now have the knowledge not to misuse them.

The founding principles that the Atkins diet is based on have since been used on several new low carbohydrate diets, but the diet by Dr.Atkins was pioneer and it is still one of the most used diets today.
