Introduction of Atopic Dermatitis :
Atopic dermatitis is a very common, often chronic (long-lasting) skin disease that affects a large percentage of the world's population. It is also called eczema, dermatitis, or atopy.
The word "dermatitis" means inflammation of the skin. "Atopic" refers to diseases that are hereditary, tend to run in families, and often occur together. In atopic dermatitis, the skin becomes extremely itchy and inflamed, causing redness, swelling, cracking, weeping, crusting, and scaling. Dry skin is a very common complaint and an underlying cause of some of the typical rash symptoms.
Signs and symptoms of atopic dermatitis (eczema)

• Red to brownish-gray colored patches


• Itching, which may be severe, especially at night


• Small, raised bumps, which may leak fluid and crust over when scratched


• Thickened, cracked or scaly skin


• Raw, sensitive skin from scratching

• Long, hot baths or showers


• Dry skin


• Stress


• Sweating


• Rapid changes in temperature


• Low humidity


• Solvents, cleaners, soaps or detergents


• Wool or man-made fabrics or clothing


• Dust or sand

• Yellowish-orange or honey-colored crusting (impetigo) over the lesions


• Pus-producing lesions


• Infected, inflamed hair follicles (folliculitis)


• Fever


• Fatigue


• Swollen lymph nodes


• Multiple itchy, watery blisters over an area of skin, usually where atopic dermatitis lesions were present. (5 to 12 days after exposure)


• Blisters tend to disseminate or "crop" into adjacent areas of skin.


• Blisters may bleed, become encrusted, and erode - at this stage they are extremely painful



• extreme itching, burning, watering of the eyes, and mucous discharge


• Cornea becomes deformed, probably due to constant hard rubbing of the eyes caused by excruciating eyelid itching
