Att Prepaid Cell Phones Review

By: Gen Wright Home | Computers-and-Technology

There are many reasons for which an individual might choose to go with AT&T Prepaid Cell Phones. In fact there are several reasons that one might decide to go with a prepaid phone period, but we're not here to discuss that. Rather, let's talk about the service that is offered by AT&T. It is a full featured nationwide network that brings a wide range of different services to it's users. There are two different types of prepaid calling that you can concern yourself with it when it comes to AT&T Prepaid Cell Phones, so let's take a look at them:

Pay As You Go: Say hello to the standard cellular phone plan. This plan comes with three options. First of all you have the option where you pay twenty five cents per minute. This is free except for the minutes you use. Then you have the next tier wherein you would pay ten cents per minute. This is better but it's going to cost you one dollar per day, and is only charged on the days that the phone is used. If you do have this plan, then you can opt to add unlimited nights and weekends for $19.99 per month. You can actually have unlimited calling for $3 per day when the the phone is used, though this is only a good idea if you do not use your phone very much.

Pick Your Plan: Okay, this one is a little better, as you will be able to pay for the features that you want. This means that it is very similar to the contract plans, though you won't hurt your credit if you suddenly need to cancel your plan. This is a win win situation for everyone. Though you will still need to pay the cents per minute fee, even though you are picking your plan. The biggest difference is that you will be able to enjoy Caller ID, voice mail, downloads, and any number of other features. This really is the best deal if you are planning to go prepaid.

One of the biggest reasons why people choose to go with prepaid is because they won't pass the credit check. You can get into a contract with your credit in bad shape, but you will need to pay a deposit. This deposit is never cheap, in fact you might end up paying upwards of $300, depending literally on the mood of the company at the time. If this is something that you have run into as of late, then rejoice, you too can have a cellular phone. It's not a bad deal either, after all, you're not going to be laughed at by all those contract users. Your phone won't say "Prepaid" on the side of it in large pink letters. Well at least not with most companies.

So the credit check is nonexistent with AT&T Prepaid cell phones, and you will be able to enjoy unlimited nights and weekends if you go with the higher end plan. On top of that, the company provides customer support through a phone number or through e-mail if you so desire. You can also send pictures and text messages, but you will end up paying $.20 per minute, which is a rather high price to pay. You can buy your messages in bulk if you wish, meaning that you would then pay a small fee for a certain amount of messages each month. A fee of $19.99 will increase your quota to unlimited, which is what most people would prefer.

When you want to pay you're in luck, because with AT&T Prepaid Cell Phones you can actually pay in just about every format you choose. You can do credit card, check, cash, whatever it is you want to use. The best part is that you can pay online or by phone. If you don't want to leave the comfort of your own home, you don't have to! There is quite a bit of Downloadable Content that can be accessed for a fee, which includes Ring Tones and there is even International Calling for those who are interested. So now let's talk about the part you've been worried about, shall we?

It's no secret that Cellular Phone Companies like to charge roaming fees. As soon as you go out of the service area you're going to be paying an arm and a leg just to stay connected with friends and family. Well guess what, there are no roaming charges with AT&T Prepaid Cell Phones. You can call anywhere at any time and still pay the same rate. Long distance is free as well, and you can use the 411 Calling Feature. It will cost you $1.79 per call, but it is cheaper than carrying a Phone Book around. Of course if you have a data plan you can simply look up the information you need, but that's totally up to you.

There are some who will say that this service pales in comparison to some of the local providers who provide non-contract service for about thirty dollars per month with unlimited calling, but they are just that: local. You probably won't be able to use those phones out of state, and you will most definitely run into hidden fees. You also won't have international calling, so if those are features you want, then you will need to go for a more complex plan. In the end what cellular phone plan you actually get is up to you. Whether you choose a small town brand, or a name brand, just remember that you need to get the best deal. AT&T has some of the best deals around, so give them a try!
