Attending Your First College? 7 Very Useful Tips And Tricks

By: Robert Michael Home | Reference-and-Education

Attending college does more for a person than give them a degree and a brighter future. In fact, it gives them a rich past. It gives people a past full of fond memories and joyful youth. College should be taken as an experience to enjoy not something that needs to be endured. There are some ways to make the most of your college days.

First, stay in the dorms. This a great experience, most of the time. In fact, this is where you bond with your fellow students outside of the classroom. This is where you will attend parties and sleepovers. One of the best experiences is staying in the dorms. Although having a roommate that is different than you is part of the experience of staying in the college dorms, there are times when the differences are too much to hand. In these cases you can request a room change.

Another experience includes clubs and extracurricular activities. This is not only a great way to make friends, it is also a great item to put on your resume. Participating in a club builds your interrelationship skills and shows you can work as part of a team. This can give you a network of contacts to use in finding a job. However, the best part is the fun that you will have.

Social activities are also being offered by most colleges. So, even if you don't dress up, make sure you go to every eighties dance and out door movie that your college offers. These are a lot of fun and a great way to take some of the pressure off during your years in college.

Your senior year in college will also be the last year you can claim a student discount. In fact, most people won't get another discount at the movies and other events until they qualify for a senior discount. That's a long ways away so get out and enjoy being cheap.

Though a lot of old couples started dating in college, some may find that they don't have time to date. However, this is a great place to start dating. If it wasn't meant to be than you won't find time together and you won't become serious. However, if you find your soul mate you may end up finding that you can make the time. However, the important thing to remember is that you are young. While many people do find their soul mates, college is better for beginning your dating life not ending it.

One last part of the college experience is discovering yourself. Don't feel as though you have to stick with the plans you entered college with. Many people change their minds after being exposed to new things. You may find that you like making maps more than teaching and that is fine. Don't be too rigid during your college years or you might end up unhappy later in life.
