Baby Feeding Problems

By: Scot Robinson Home | Health-and-Fitness

Feeding problems in babies can wreck havoc with the parents. Though most problems are relatively insignificant, if allowed to persist they can have grave consequences. As the baby stays unsatisfied he can be fussy and have a disturbed sleeping pattern. Common feeding problems are:

Regardless of whether they are breast feeding or bottle feeding, these mothers have nearly always followed the current advice given by healthcare officials and fed their babies on demand. For many mothers, and especially first-time mothers, this means feeding their baby every time he cries, often every two hours right around the clock.

When your machine is jamming, first locate where the paper is jamming. Which paper tray? Is it tray 1 or tray 2? Also which size is jamming? On machines that have more than one paper tray you can switch paper trays and then you can skip cleaning the rollers. Make sure when you change cassettes that the copier registers the correct size.

Engorgement may occur at the beginning of the milk-producing cycle. The milk-making cells enlarge following hormonal stimulus and an increase in the blood supply. The process lasts for two to three days and in many women causes the breasts to swell painfully. Cold compresses and a mild painkiller should relieve the condition. Nurse the baby frequently, applying warm compresses before feeding. Put a little oil on the breast and express gently.

Sore Nipple - This is happening because your baby did not take your entire areola into her mouth while breastfeed; she is just sucking your nipple! But that is not her fault; it happened when she is not in a proper positioned at your breast for breast feeding (and you are the one who puts her in that position). You might experience discomfort and pain; to overcome this, use the proper technique to help your baby take your breast and breastfeed in a proper position.

Sometimes mother may suffer from bleeding/sore/cracked nipples which result into the problem of breast feeding. This may happen due to the bad positioning of the baby. In this case immediately discontinue the feeding of the baby by inserting your finger gently into his/her mouth so that he/she may lose the grip.

Breast feeding has declined in popularity when bottle feeding arrived on the scene. As the many breast lactating benefits have been discovered afresh breast feeding is making a come back. As it has been less common for some time, we have lost some of the everyday knowledge concerning breast feeding.

Overfeeding is the most common problem beginners have. You should know that there is no such thing as underfeeding. People feed their fish too much because they love them. If you love your fish that does not mean you have to give it a lot of food.

Breast feeding does not come with an instruction manual, and although it is natural for a mother to want to nurse her own child sometimes it is not possible. There are many different conflicting opinions on the merits of breastfeeding; some thirty years ago women were told that bottle feeds were best for their child, now the trend has reversed again with emphasis being placed on breastfeeding to give your child the best start in life.
