By: Judith Persit Home | Home-and-Family

These days the trend tends to be to head back to nature with home dcor. One popular option for window blinds is to use the elements of nature like bamboo window shades to beautify your home and provide practical window coverings. Bamboo shades come in a variety of selections and styles. The appeal for bamboo window shades is to get the look of nature in an Eco-friendly manner.

Bamboo shades provide a natural look and also are Eco-friendly. Using a renewable resource like bamboo is a great way to go green in your home. If you are looking to go green then bamboo window shades are the perfect choice. Bamboo is a fast growing plant that grows up to 4 to 5 feet each month. This is also a plant that is continuously producing new shoots and increases in size rapidly. There are a variety of sizes and colors to choose from depending on when the plant is harvested. You can choose to use a thicker cut of bamboo or a thinner diameter of bamboo for your window shades.

Another great green aspect about bamboo window shades is the fact that it is biodegradable so it will not be junking up a landfill for years to come. Bamboo shade plants produce low emissions, but it is important to ensure that you are getting natural bamboo shades when shopping as bamboo window shades can also be created from a plastic material to stimulate the look of real bamboo. These are synthetic and can contain chemicals and other materials not naturally produced.

Bamboo shades are not like most other window shades. They are not stained like many other window shades. Many window shades are white or stained to enhance their color, but they are more natural. Bamboo is not a uniform material. Bamboo naturally has knots, bumps and a variety of color patterns to it. Stain will not make bamboo look more uniform because of the different grains, bumps and knots found in bamboo naturally. Bamboo's appeal is that each piece is unique.

Bamboo shades provide needed privacy with various degrees of light to come through. To get the most out of bamboo shades you will need to make sure they are lined with a cloth like material to allow some light to shine through, but still providing the maximum amount of privacy. Depending on the degree of light you want to shine through the window will depend on the thickness and type of material used to line the shade. This lining will enhance the beauty of the weave and design of the bamboo. While white or linen colored material is generally used to line bamboo shades, colored materials can also be used.

Bamboo shades are used in a variety of application in addition to window coverings. They are great for large windows as well as small spaces. Bamboo shades can be created from whole pieces pf bamboo or from cut pieces of bamboo that are woven together to form on uniform piece of bamboo carpet like material. These shades use a cord to raise and lower the blinds. They can be rolled like in the whole pieces of bamboo or in pleats like many of the woven bamboo window shades.

Bamboo shades will provide you with a variety of option including the design, color and thickness of the bamboo. You can choose to have them lined or not lined. They provide a large variety of option to simplify your home dcor and create an Eco-friendly window covering options. They can also help conserve energy in your home by insulating windows. Bamboo shades are a great option to bring in the beauty of nature into your home.
