While in The Capitol region visit the Great Falls of the Potomac River, and stop by Glen Echo's home of Clara Barton. Don't forget to stop at the attractions in Prince George's County including the Goddard's Space Flight Center and a colonial tobacco plantation.

The Southern region of Chesapeake Bay includes St. Mary's County which is a history-filled area containing the 800-acre Historic St. Mary's City museum providing living" accounts of life in the 1600's from workers dressed in that period's clothing. On the beach at Calvert Cliffs in Calvert County, fossils can be found readily. The Calvert Marine Museum in Solomon's have exhibits of prehistoric creatures, and you can visit the Drum Point Lighthouse. Just outside of Lusby, you can visit Flag Pond Nature Park where a collection of woods, ponds, swamps, and freshwater marshes add to the contrast of the Chesapeake Bay beaches.

The Eastern Shore of Maryland, Kent County is a water-based region. It contains the Rock Hall Museum with nautical artifacts and the Waterman's Museum showing the history of crabbing and fishing. Queen Anne's County is a refuge for boating, hunting, and fishing. In Talbot County, St. Michael's is a historically significant town because the lanterns hung there during the War of 1812 caused the British cannons to overshoot their targets. It has become a wonderful place to shop and visit during all times of the year. Caroline County is home to the oldest gristmill in the U.S., and is strong in agriculture. In Dorchester County there is the Spocott Windmill rebuilt in 1972 it is a reproduction of a post-type Dutch Windmill. The Salisbury Zoo is located in Wicomico County. The Governor Tawes Historical Museum is found in Somerset County. In Cecil County the thoroughbred horse farms are a site to see as well as stop by the historic C&D Canal and visit the historic churches in the area. Finally, the farthest east in Maryland you can visit is Ocean City. It is a year-round resort area, with white sandy beaches, shops, places to eat and a nice vacation break for the whole family.
