Baylor Bears College Football Tickets Available

Staging its games at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco, Texas, the Baylor Bears College Football team represents Baylor University. The arena was known as Baylor Stadium until 1988. The coaching staff is headed by former University of Houston head coach Art Briles, because back in 2007, Baylor fired football coach Guy Morriss. The fight song is Old Fite." The school boasts its colors green and gold, football players traditionally hold up their helmets during the playing of the school song. The team's standing in 2007 was 3 wins and 7 losses. Before the name Bears" came about, other choices for the team's names were Antelopes," Frogs," and Ferrets."

Like any other college football team, the Baylor Bears have a team mascot. The bear traces its roots from 1917, when the bear named Ted" made its first appearance during the Baylor-Texas football game. Since then, the school's athletic department has started making use of the team's mascots, especially the cheerleaders and bands during the football games. While singing the team's fighting song, a hand signal known as the Bear Claw" is also prominent.

Baylors Bears Rivals are: Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Iowa State. Incidentally, the Baylors also won their first Big 12 road game in school history at Iowa State.

Among its classic football players, Mike Singletary and Hayden Fry are the most noteworthy alumni. Singletary is the current head of the coaching department for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League. Starting as a linebacker for the Bears during his college at Baylor University, he has now established a name in the football industry. Another popular alumnus is Hayden Fry, who made a record of 232 wins, 178 losses, and 10 ties during the well-spent 37 hears career as head coach. He has now been elevated to the Football Hall of Fame because of these achievements. Other players who have made history are Santa Dotson, Gary Baxter, Walter Abercrombie, Fred Miller, and Thomas Everett.

Speaking of the players, this season's roster of names include Thomas White, Joe Pawelek, Dwain Crawford, Robert Griffin, Jay Finley, David Gettis, and Kendall Wright. Last year, two of their players made the preseason All Big 12 Team. They are none other than linebacker Joe Palewek and Jordan Lake. Palewek made at least 86 tackels during the previous seasons, and Baylor takes pride in Lake, as he was the only all-Big 12 postseason selection for that year.

On recent news, it's team's quarterback Robert Griffin made the most pass attempts which made him set a Bowl Subdivision record. He is only a freshman, but was determined to start his career without an interception, exceeding Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy with the number of passes, which was 138. Griffin made a total of 141 passes.

True blue football team fans don't settle from watching the games from the couch this year. They get themselves in the games by running to the nearest stores and picking up tickets to one of the team's biggest games this football season.
