Be Passionate About Your Subject Matter To Make Money From Social Media

By: Rachael Barbara Home | Business

There is a lot of content out there in the world of social media, everything from articles like this one which are shared and syndicated around the web to provide value to readers through to blog and forum posts, conversations in social networks, through to arrays of video, images and other content shared on web2.0 platforms. With so much noise going on and many more people taking the time to participate and contribute all the time to ensure that your message is read and for your content to stand out from the crowd it must be original, quality, and valuable.
Making money from Social Media is something where there are raft of success stories and at the same time many more failures. Social media is not a quick win opportunity to make stacks of cash and run off to the Bahamas. Rather it’s just like any other business opportunity where success is measured with the money that you make, its takes intelligence, experience, time, care and perseverance.
Written content is a key driver of commerce in the social media space and there are a number of good reasons for this. Which we’ll explore in turn:
Google loves written content †Google is still the big daddy in the online space and despite Facebooks monumental rise people continue to turn to Google to find the content related to what they are looking for. Google like (and always has) well written original content. Its what feeds its engine and helps site to rank in the search engine results pages (SERPS). Create content optimised for Google and you are on the right track.
Create valuable content †Write content that people are interested in and find valuable and you will help create trust in you and your proposition whilst also creating authority. If people find what you are writing interesting and valuable they will come back for more and more.
Create conversation †By creating interest, asking questions and becoming involved in the content that you are writing you will encourage people to comment and make contributions. Comments and forum posts assist in adding even more content to the starting point that an article or forum post might provide
Become part of the conversation †a key means to gain authority is to respond and become part of the conversations that other people are having in and around your subject matter. Respond with feedback, ideas, insight and answers to questions and you will become a valuable contributor.
How do we make this activity successful? Simply choose subject matter that you are passionate about and that you can write about easily and respond to without any writer blocks. If you are passionate and knowledgeable this will simple come without any problems and you’ll find yourself enjoying the activity, it becoming a pleasure rather than a chore.
If you are not passionate about your subject matter this will become a harder task and you risk being seen and spamming or worse lying and trying to create contrived gain as opposed to delivering value to the community or conversation.
