Benefits Of Acupuncture

By: roger jakson Home | Health-and-Fitness

Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that employs the use of special 'hair-thin' needles that are inserted just below the skin at strategic points in the body known as "acupuncture points". This helps in regulating the flow of energy, stimulates the body's healing mechanisms, mitigates pain and restores good health in myriad ways.Let's look at the meaning of acupuncture as found in Wikipedia: Acupuncture (from Lat. acus, "needle", and pungere, "prick") is a technique of inserting and manipulating filiform needles into strategic points on the body with the aim of relieving pain and for therapeutic purposes. Acupuncture is thought to have originated in China and is closely associated with Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is practised and taught throughout the world.

Other types of pain like migraines, menstrual cramps, headaches and labor pain can also be relieved using acupuncture. This is according to the World Health Organization (WHO). It concluded that this ancient Chinese medicine can effectively treat tension headaches and migraines after reviewing a large body of acupuncture research. According to WHO, respiratory disorders such as allergic rhinitis can also be treated using acupuncture. This type of alternative treatment is said to be more effective than antihistamine drugs and produce fewer side effects. However, acupuncture is still not recommended to replace antibiotic therapy especially in treating symptoms of tonsillitis. Acupuncture has also been found to be immensely beneficial for weight loss. Studies and research have shown that there are more than 2000 acupuncture points in the human body. For treating any condition through acupuncture it is important to identify the proper pressure points in the body.

These three categories are back trauma, sensitivity to dampness, wind and cold temperatures, and problems with the kidneys. The acupuncturist needs to first diagnose your problem and then administer the correct treatment. It helps treat several diseases. More studies have revealed the illnesses or diseases that can be treated, prevented, or reduced by acupuncture. You have joint pains, from mild to severe such as osteoarthritis. It is also known to treat infertility problems as well as addictions or phobias. It can improve the function of the central nervous system, the brain, and the circulatory system. It is also considered to be one of the most ideal methods of losing the unwanted weight. The use of acupuncture on other diseases, like cancer, hasn't been studied yet, but it's possible that it could become instrumental in the future as part of the cure. It's possible that this method of alternative treatment could be just what we've been looking for in regards to cancer.
