Known for its glamour, celebrity draw, multi million dollar estates and world famous shopping is the City of Beverly Hills. A trip to Beverly Hills will feel like to most visitors they have been transported to another land, with palm trees on every corner, lush greenery everywhere and glass store facades. The city is its own city within Los Angeles and is an area where many hotels can be found. Hotels of Beverly Hills are located in all parts of the city, from residential areas to addresses on Rodeo Drive and Wilshire Blvd. Santa Monica Blvd is the main stretch that runs through the commercial area of Beverly Hills. To the north of Santa Monica Blvd is the famed residential neighborhoods and to the south the shopping and spa areas. Located where Wilshire Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd. cross is the Beverly Hilton. The hotel, a four star luxury property with marble floors in the lobby and rooms that give views of the west side of Los Angeles in all directions and is walking distance to all the sights of Rodeo Drive, Wilshire Blvd and side streets accommodating shopping. Located on Little Santa Monica Blvd running parallel to Santa Monica Blvd is The Peninsula Hotel. In recent years the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills has become one of the most prestigious hotels in all of Los Angeles. A three story structure, facing out onto little Santa Monica Blvd the hotel has world class dining, sleeping accommodations and spas. The Peninsula Hotel is less than a ten minute walk to Rodeo Drive and the shopping areas along Wilshire Blvd. The hotel has come to rival other Beverly Hills hotels for its regular clientele of agents, producers and other Hollywood power brokers who meet there regularly to hammer out such deals. One of the biggest attractions in Beverly Hills is Rodeo Drive. Rodeo Drive is a stretch of shopping with glass front stores sporting the biggest names in retail-Prada, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Brookes Brothers and more. There is only one hotel on Rodeo Drive-the Luxe Beverly Hills. Situated on the east side of the street, the Luxe Hotel can be hard to spot-but a room here can be worth it and exciting. One step outside of the lobby and visitors are in the heart of Rodeo Drive. Where Rodeo Drive ends at Wilshire Blvd, visitors will find the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Owned by the Four Seasons, the Beverly Wilshire's architecture has an old sophisticated look. Anywhere along Rodeo Drive the hotel is very visible. Fans of the movie Pretty Women will recognize the hotel as the place Richard Gere and Julia Roberts characters met and fell in love. The other hotel that is along Wilshire Blvd is the Thompson Hotel. The Thompson hotel is just a few blocks east of the Beverly Wilshire and is owned by the same company who own the Roosevelt hotel in Hollywood. The Thompson hotel is hip and attracts a younger high adventure type crowd. On the top floor of the property the hotel hosts a pool deck that has sweeping views of all of Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and on clear days the Pacific Ocean. There are not very many hotels on Sunset Blvd, in fact there is only one, the famed Beverly Hills Hotel. The location of the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset is in a very residential area where Sunset and its side streets are lined with thousands of lush palm, maple and oak trees. This stretch of Sunset is pristine and very clean and the Beverly Hills Hotel, with its all pink exterior stands out like a sore thumb. Known as the "pink palace" the Beverly Hills Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in all of Beverly Hills. The hotel has a long reputation for hosting major parties attended by every major celebrity, politician and dignitary in the world. The hotel exudes class, fun and glamour. Every year several Oscar and Emmy parties are held here and walking through the lobby you never know who you might see. The last area with large number of hotels is in the southern area of Beverly Hills. This area borders the City of Los Angeles. A few of the hotels in this area advertise that they are in Beverly Hills but they are really in LA. The properties in this area of Beverly Hills are a mile or more from the shopping areas of Wilshire Blvd and Rodeo Drive. Accommodations in this area include the Avalon, Crowne Plaza Hotel and the Beverly Tower Hotel. Only the Avalon is located in the City of Beverly Hills. Copyright (c) 2009 Todd Cordisco
