Beyond The Boardroom: Video And Web Conferencing For All †Part 1

By: Dan Richmond Home | Business | Workplace

Video and web conferencing software is most commonly associated with being used in an office environment, but those who can benefit from using this technology reach out much farther than a company board room. Video and web conferencing has changed the way industries of all shapes and sizes communicate with each other.

Education
With the implementation of video and web conferencing, teaching has taken on a whole new form. Teaching classes by web or video conference has opened up doors allowing educators to reach out to a greater audience. Instructors can now allow more guest speakers and experts to â€visit†the class without requiring them to travel to the actual school location. Schools from across the globe can work together on projects and collaborate on ideas. Virtual field trips have been made possible; students are traveling the globe visiting museums, zoos and other historical landmarks located miles away from their school, without ever leaving their school.

Financial Services
Video and web conferencing has allowed those in the Financial Industry to have access to a larger group of clientele. No longer are in-office, face-to-face meetings necessary. In addition, account reviews, the sharing of financial information and product collaboration can all be done online through tools like a whiteboard, notepad and the ability to show documents and spreadsheets. When new developments and issues arise in the financial markets, video and web conferencing provide for real-time decision making by allowing financial agents to connect instantly with their fellow employees, clients and prospects.

Religious Organizations
Video and web conferencing allows religious organizations to stay connected with their members. By broadcasting weekly services, religious organizations are able to offer their services to members who are at home ill or held back from attending in person due to location or weather conditions. In addition to broadcasting weekly services, religious organizations are using video and web conferencing to hold counseling sessions, conduct training and educational courses, as well as conduct board meetings and collaborate with other congregations.

Local and Government Municipalities
It is impossible to physically be in two places at once; unfortunately those who serve local and governmental municipalities wear so many different hats it is almost required of them. Video and web conferencing offers civil service agents and officials a way to reduce geographical barriers and virtually be in more than one place at a time. Currently, government and public service employees use video and web conferencing to conduct everything from town hall meetings and trainings to live site inspections and community development.

Non-Profit
The Non-Profit industry heavily relies on receiving grants and donations. With recent nationwide budget cuts and reduced spending, video and web conferencing has helped non-profits stay afloat amidst troubled times. Organizations are meeting with anyone, anywhere, and at anytime. Video and web conferencing gives non-profits an unlimited geographical grasp. The availability and simplicity of video and web conferencing services has allowed non-profits to host live fund raisers, offer information updates to contributors, investors and benefactors, conduct internal meetings, administer new employee trainings and to reach out to clients, without having to find money in their budgets to travel administer new budgets to travel.
