Bingo first started to become popular in Britain in the 1960's, it was a good clean way of gambling and making money whilst having fun, allowing people to relax and play a game that wasn't mentally straining. Recently with over 90 million admissions to bingo in Great Britain every year it seems that the popularity with this game is soaring, and the idea of gambling in somewhat of a less skilful way has become a lot more like harmless fun to a lot of its players. It could be understood that the main reason for playing bingo would be as an aid to your financial situation however various surveys and questionnaires have shown that many players join bingo as a way of making friends, socializing with others and finding companionship. A country wide survey has shown that 1 in 3 people go to bingo for social reasons rather then financial reasons. The idea of a group of friends going down to a bingo hall on a Friday night and playing together, whilst having a gossip and a drink has become very popular for many varied people of all ages. It's a great way to spend a night having competitive fun with your friends and maybe earning a little more cash as well. This can also be true with online bingo. Although not face to face many bingo operators offer chat rooms on there sites when playing bingo. These chat rooms hold a chat host who answers questions and runs chat games. So it seems even if you would prefer to play online you don't have to become incommunicado, you have just as likely chance to meeting different players; who perhaps live much further away! So it seems you can meet many new and very different people by playing this game as well, all of which will always have at least one common interest, bingo! It seems today that bingo has been named ‘most popular group leisure activity in the UK' proving that the key to the success of bingo is not the intention of making more money but the idea of relaxing, socializing and having more fun.
