After a shock in the eye, make sure there is nothing serious After a violent shock, the first thing to do is make sure that the eye itself has not suffered from any major injury. Indeed, the shock caused the collapse of several small vessels located there. Nothing serious, but the skin takes on a dark red, sometimes black. After a few days, the bruising tends to descend along the cheek and to change color by pulling the yellow. If the shock also affected the conjunctiva, the lining inside the eyelid, a red spot appears the result of the extension of the bruise under the conjunctiva. How to treat a black eye? 1) Must lie on the back and apply to the eye a swab of ice water. 2) We can try to limit the extension of the hematoma by making a slight compression. As this is difficult in the eye, one can use a coin for example, or any other flat object of similar size, having thoroughly cleaned and wrapped in gauze. 3) To reduce the bruising, it is recommended to apply a cream or gel-based arnica around the eye by light massage, as long as the color of the skin. 4) Homeopathy may be tempted to supplement (Ledum palustre 5CH or if very painful shock: Symphytum officinale 5CH), otherwise in herbal medicine: sweet clover, red vine, Indian chestnut, bilberry leaf, black currant, etc. Attention, especially not aspirin! Its anticoagulant effect would spread the bleeding under the skin and enhance the beautiful colors around the eye.
