Blood Sugar Home Remedies And Herbal Treatment To Control Blood Sugar Level In Diabetes

By: dr. sarkozy mikal Home | Health-and-Fitness

The blood sugar concentration or blood glucose level is the amount of glucose (sugar) present in the blood of a human or animal.

Normally in mammals, the body maintains the blood glucose level at a reference range between about 3.6 and 5.8 mM (mmol/L, i.e., millimoles/liter) (64.8 and 104.4 mg/dL). The human body naturally tightly regulates blood glucose levels as a part of metabolic homeostasis.

Blood sugar, also known as blood glucose, is the body’s fuel that feeds the brain, nervous system, and tissues.

A healthy body makes glucose not only from ingested carbohydrates, but also from proteins and fats, and would not be able to function without it.

Maintaining a balanced blood glucose level is essential to a body’s everyday performance.

Eating significant volumes of refined carbohydrates and sugary foods contribute much for having low blood sugar. Intake of these food items normally disables organs like the pancreas, the adrenal glands, and the liver to take care of sugars efficiently.

Other reasons for low blood sugar could be associated with malfunctions of some organs like the liver or pituitary glands. It could also result from having tumors.

Another type of low blood sugar is known as fasting hypoglycemia.

This occurs as a result of abstaining from food for eight or more hours. The symptoms are often more severe than those of reactive hypoglycemia and can include seizures, loss of consciousness, and a loss of mental acuity.

Normal Blood Sugar

Blood sugar levels measure how well your body is using glucose. Glucose is the sugar that supplies the chief amount of energy for cells. After you eat, your blood glucose begins to rise. Insulin, a hormone created by the pancreas, helps to moved the glucose into the cells, where you body uses it as fuel.

Once this is done, and if you have not consumed any other food or drink, your blood sugar will drop back to normal. Blood sugar levels that do not drop back down to normal mean that there are two problems occurring.

Low Blood Sugar Treatment

1.Glucose tablets
2.Table sugar
3.Fruit juice
4.Milk
5.Honey

The next step is to check the glucose level in blood within 15 minutes to make sure it is in the normal blood sugar range. If it is still below 70 mg/dL, another serving of quick action foods may be needed. Extreme cases may require immediate medical attention.

Home Remedies for Low Blood Sugar

1.An apple a day keeps the doctor away. So, eating two small apples (with peels) daily is beneficial in the treatment of low blood sugar.

2.If the low blood sugar is caused by overexertion or due to under nutrition then molasses in the form of sherbet can help prevent fainting due to low blood sugar.

3.Taking pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and raw nuts is a very simple and equally effective natural home remedy for the treatment of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

4.Chestnuts, cashews, and coconuts have a lower potassium / higher sodium ratio thus useful in sustaining higher blood sugar levels.

5.Drinking fresh tomato juice daily can cure hypoglycemia within two weeks.

6.Herbs such as angostura bitters (or any combination of bitters), artichoke leaf, and gentian root control the blood sugar levels.

7.Natural sweeteners such as stevia, barley malt syrup, molasses, and brown rice syrup can be used to replace sugar.
