A teddy is completely different from any other toy, and buying a teddy bear more often has to do with falling in love than acquiring a status symbol. A blue bear plush toy, however, has become the symbol of the birth of a baby boy, and baby boys in general. Long ago, it was decided that because babies looked so much alike, a color was needed to properly identify the correct sex of the child. Most children that receive a blue bear plush (or any bear for that matter), still have at least one or even several of their very own. Some are proudly on show for all to see †perhaps in particular the blue bear plush as it may have been given to the child when they were born. Others, may wait patiently in the toy cupboard for the day when their owners need a hug or some reassurance. Their loyalty is often rewarded †bears, teddy and otherwise, are the toys least likely to be thrown or given away. Some bears will be forgotten but others, like the blue bear plush, will act as a constant reminder of the joyous day they came into the world. If not for the birth of a child, we should not forget that a blue bear plush can be given at any time of the year; as a gift for a birthday party; for the christening of a child; for Christmas, or just because. While a blue bear plush does have a certain symbol attached to it because of its specific color, one thing is still for certain: this wonderful plush bear will always bring joy and comfort to whomever is lucky enough to own it. Christopher Milne (after whom Winnie the Pooh's Christopher Robin was based on) said it beautifully in The Enchanted Places: â€A row of teddy bears sitting in a toyshop, all one size, all one price. Yet how different each one is from the next. Some look happy, some look sad. Some look standoffish, some look lovable. And one in particular, that one over there, has a specially endearing expression. Yes, that is the one we would like, please.â€
