Breast Lump

By: Mac grath Home | Health-and-Fitness | Alternative-Medicine

The role of lymph is to flush out toxins and debris from tissues. If this flow is impaired, like when wearing a bra, tissues get toxic. We also impair toxin release by using underarm deodorants--they plug up and block our pores.

A constant swollen and tender breast and/or a sudden increase in breast size - Women should consult their physician if they notice a sudden increase in breast size and also if there is constant swelling and tenderness in the breast other than when a woman is menstruating as it is fairly common for a woman's breast to get swollen and feel tender during her period.

If you perform self-breast exam, eventually you'll find a lump. Is it a lump, or just normal "lumpiness," many little benign lumps in both breasts? Breast lumps that suddenly occur need to be checked. Usually the smaller the lump, the better. The size of the lump may determine prognosis.

The most prevalent cancer in women is breast cancer, it is also the second most common cause of death in women apart from lung cancer. Because the breast is composed of identical tissues in males and females, breast cancer also occurs in males though it is less common.

However, no matter how small, breast cyst during menopause must be detected so that one may know whether they are cancer inducing or not. For this, a detection process has to be followed. This can be done by one's own self if one knows what the symptoms of a breast cyst are.

If the tumor is less than 4 centimeters in size, it can be surgically removed with a lumpectomy (removal of the lump), followed by radiation. If the tumor is large, mastectomy (removal of the breast and underlying tissue) is necessary. After mastectomy, the breast can be reconstructed either at the time of surgery or at a later date. During breast cancer surgery, lymph nodes from the underarm are removed and examined for the presence of cancer cells.

The treatment she went under started with a lumpectomy. This simply means that the tumor was removed by surgery. In the next step the lymph nodes close to the tumor were removed. This has to be done because the tumor often likes to spread to the lymph nodes or already has done so. Removing the nodes reduces the risk of a new cancer.

It is important to fight and not to give up. It is important to stay enthusiastic against all odds. I am a strong believer in the healing power of our body. Today every doctor will tell you that positive and joyful thoughts improve your overall health and strengthen your immune system.

Women tend to have fewer children today. They also get pregnant later in their life. Therefore there are more cases of breast cancer. It is also true that the better food supply and todays eating habits make us heavier and taller, another reason why cancer is more common.

Breast cancer most often involves glandular breast cells in the ducts or lobules. Most patients present with an asymptomatic lump discovered during examination or screening mammography. Diagnosis is confirmed by biopsy. Treatment usually includes surgical excision, often with radiation therapy and adjuvant systemic therapy.

Whilst you are still standing, examine your armpit. This is where your lymph nodes are. You may be tender with swollen lymph nodes, but don't panic. This does not mean you have breast cancer. You can have swollen lymph nodes for many reasons. The hormonal roller coaster ride of your cycle, or when you are unwell, can be enough to make your lymph nodes feel tender. It is usually temporary.
