Brief Introduction Of Ferrari 308

Ferrari 308 made its first appearance at the Paris and London shows in 1975. It was inspired by the Pininfarina design. It was the first mid-engined sports car manufactured by Ferrari in 70s and 80s.

The initial models of 308 had fiber glass coachwork. It was very much successful due to its attractive line look and top class performance on road.

Ferrari 308 was Ferrari’s first two seated V8 engined road car. 308 series was the new beginning for the company as the new builder of exotic sports cars. It was designed to epitomize the sports car in this era.

The 308 was available in two styles over three generations. The GTB had a solid roof and better rigidity. The 308 GTS came with removable roof and panel in 1977. The roof panel was made of covered fiber glasses. The three generations of 308 were 308, 308i and 308qv. The engines of these generations were also changed. The 308 engine was a carbureted while for 308i, it was fuel injected and quattrovalvole for the 308qv consisting of fuel injected engine with four valves per cylinder. Ferrari 308 was upgraded as Ferrari 328 in the year 1985.

The 308 represents a 3-liter, 8-cylinder Ferrari sports car. 308 were available in two models:
â€308 GT4: Bertone styled V8 engined, successor to Dino
â€308 GTB/GTS: Pininfarina styled, 2 seat version of GT4s

Ferrari 308 features ventilated disc brakes.

Suspension:
Its front and back suspension includes dual, unequal wish-bones, coil springs and shock absorbers with front and back anti-roll bars.

Transmission:
308 comes with a five speed synchromesh transmission and a special manual transmission with smoother shifting.

Interior:
The interior of 308 follows the finest tradition of Italian design and it was well ahead of its generation in 1975. The 308 cabin is roomy proviing sufficient space for heel and toe driving.

Ferrari 308 was the most widely selling Ferrari car in US. It was upgraded as 328 later making some slight changes. The above information will prove helpful to you if you are thinking of buying a Ferrari 308.
