British Silver Britannia Coin

By: Gold Silver Home | Finance | Investments

The British Silver Britannia Coin is one of the only coins known mainly as a copy-cat. There is a shocking similarity between this coin and the Royal Mint which was introduced in the late 1990's. The British Silver Britannia Coin is made up of 95.84% pure silver, and amalgamated with small percentages of copper. Originally this coin was valued in the UK at 2 pounds, and was used for some time as a standard form of currency. Shortly after its release the British fell in love with the beautiful gold coins, so they decided to produce a similar coin in pure silver which was a very good decision in most people's minds.
The British Silver Britannia Coin is released yearly, and it seems that a completely new design is released every year, and every year people all over the world far in love with the excellent design. In a recent version released in 2007, there is a intricate picture of a seated Britannia with large armor. In the same image the Britannia has a lion sitting contentedly at her feet, and she is holding a large union flag.
As mentioned, the design is thought to improve every year. For instance, the 2008 version of the coin displays an incredibly eye-catching and beautiful design, which many think to top even the famous 2007 model. The 2008 version contains a picture of the Britannia standing with a huge trident, and a shield proudly displaying the British flag.
For those who don't know what the Britannia is, she is pretty much a national symbol of Britain. She made her first appearance in the 1670's on a British coin, and since then she has been used on pretty much every form of currency in Britain. Every coin and bill that displays Britannia shows her in a slightly different pose or position, but they are all similar.
This coin, made of more than 95% pure silver, is considered by thousands of investors to be a solid medium for investment. In an instable economy, it is wise to put your money into physical, tangible items that maintain their value. Especially with many world currencies falling in value, buying up gold and silver is a very smart thing to do. Fortunately, these coins are still pretty cheap to pick up, so you don't have to invest a small fortune and risk losing lots of money.
