Economic times are tough and more people are learning the value of being debt free. Planning a wedding may mean less extravagance than just a few years back. Cutting back on expenses does not mean cutting down the special touches of your wedding plans. It may mean that you have to get a little more creative or just think more outside the box than before. Tips for Saving on Wedding Plans 1.Start early and be flexible. You may be able to get the location you want at a discount if you are willing to change your date or your time. 2.Use what’s in season. Stick to flowers and dcor that will be readily available during the time of year. Poinsettias and lights almost always decorate locations during the holidays. Fall leaves and colors during the fall months. Spring flowers (iris, daffodils) in the spring. 3.Buy out of season for your dress. Find something that is beautiful for you and on you but try to find it on sale! 4.Provide non-alcoholic beverages for your guests and maybe a champagne punch, but leave the bar as a cash only situation. 5.Limit your wedding party †the fewer people that are in the party then the fewer gifts and accommodations you will be responsible for buying. 6.Limit the amount of photographs that you purchase. One big one for the bride and groom and one small one for each mother should be sufficient. 7.Plan a honeymoon in an off-season or shoulder-season location. Visit the mountains in the summer or the beach in the winter. Saving money on your wedding plans does not mean you have to cut back on the special moments. Get creative with your budget. Prioritize the things that are most important (and spend on those things first) and remember that the savings will help you establish a stronger financial future together.
