Building Your Home Business Website. Secrets Of Website Success

By: Ben Frank Jr Home | Internet-and-Business | Traffic-Building

As a home business owner, your website can either be your most valued business partner or your most worst nightmare. A website can be used for so many things, including generating traffic, automating your marketing, building relationships, collecting information, and making money. But not all home business owners create websites that really do what they should be doing, which is building your income on autopilot. Here are some secrets of website success...

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
All business owners and internet marketers who use a website needs to take time to get their website found, listed, and ranked by the major internet search engines. SEO takes time to master and to practice, but the result it an automated source of free and targeted website traffic. If you are serious about succeeded as an internet entrepreneur, you should take SEO seriously, as it is one of the most valuable skills you can master.

Utilize Article Submission Sites
Article marketing actually has two traffic benefits, both in terms of search engine optimization as well as extra traffic. For starters, anyone who reads your article can follow a link to your website. And secondly, your articles provide valuable inbound links from credible websites to yours, which is one of the biggest components of search engine optimization. Write short articles (about 500 words) on topics that will attract your websites target audience. You can submit your articles to various free article sites which can lead to a nice traffic and more traffic from the search engines. You can search "article directories" at any major search engine to find plenty of them, and this one is also a great place to start.

Your Web Site Design Matters
The layout of your website matters, both to your site visitors and to the search engine spiders. Search engine spiders will only go 2 clicks deep into a website. Any pages that are not two click from your homepage are not likely to get found or listed. By ensuring that all of your pages are no more than 2 clicks from home, you can rest assured that all of your content is being spidered. As a rule of thumb, never have any pages, at least ones that you want to be found, further than two clicks from home. If you do this you will be most effective.

Choose and use Keywords Properly
If you were going to spend time on one project, it would be best spend finding profitable keywords. Keywords allows you to target your market and draw in just the right kind of traffic. But be sure that you research keywords properly. Many keywords are so competitive that they are nearly impossible to win, but ones with low competition can be easily won to drive additional traffic your way. Using keywords properly also counts. Do not overstuff a keyword in attempt to trick the engines, they hate that. Aim for about 4-5%, which is 4-5 keyword usages per 100 words.

Use a Blog/RSS
There are two kinds of website traffic, fresh and return visitors. Both are great and both are essential to a long term thriving e-business site, and with one tool you can enhance both. If you play your cards right you can turn most new visitors into a repeat visitor who will come back to your site over and over again. A blog equipped with an RSS feed provides a perfect way to establish a large following of return traffic. Make it easy to sign up for your blog or to subscribe to your feed, and provide regular content. The search engines also love blogs because they provide a constant flow of content, so your search engine traffic may also increase substantially.
