Many employers complain that their staff find training boring or tedious, and that it takes them away from their work for no other reason than to 'tick a box' so they can say that they are skilled in another area. Others complain that the topic is 'dry' or that the information is presented in a way that they don't understand - or even worse - don't even want to understand. How can we encourage employees to interact more> To enter a training environment with a positive attitude, rather than a negative one? Often employers are too busy to manage the process of developing a training plan, implementing that training plan, obtaining feedback on the training process and making adjustments to their training methodology. How could they possibly keep their staff motivated throughout the process? You don't need to reinvent the wheel. We've all heard the expression before - so how does it apply in this circumstance? Easy. It is very likely that someone has already designed a program for your industry and it is available for you to use. Your problem is finding it. After you find the training program, you need to follow the further steps of implementation, feedback and adjusting the plan to suit your business. Don't despair if this sounds complicated - help is at hand! A better solution is available in the form of external training providers, in Australia, for example, these are called RTOs (registered training organisations). An external training provider has the depth of experience in your industry to practically take the training problems off your hands. How? Most external training providers are accredited companies that will implement a system of training specifically designed for your industry. For example, Retail training involves serving customers, taking payment for goods and services, processing orders, and observing health and safety standards to name but a few. These skills are universal in the Retail industry and your employees will need to know them. An external training provider already has the required resources and knowledge to provide first-class training to your staff. How much will it cost? Some Governments provide Government funding for organizations who choose to work with Government accredited training providers. This funding can be up to $4,000 depending on the skill level of the employee and the date that they commenced employment with you. Find out if Government funding is available by asking the external training provider you're working with. T By contracting an external training provider to deliver your training, you save time and money, your two most valuable resources in business. The employee will be rewarded upon completion with a nationally recognized certificate, and you should have a very motivated staff member.
