Get acquainted well with her tastes †and this you can do easily by observing her dressing style, and jewelry, what she ogles at in the mall, or even just speaking to her best friend (who hopefully can keep a secret). Most women are smart and helpful enough to drop a hint or two about what kind of jewelry they like, so keeping your eyes and ears open will definitely help. The other consideration you want to maintain is your budget. A little knowledge on what options are available on this front will help you choose wisely. Engagement rings are made of different materials namely: Gold, Platinum, Silver or White gold. Platinum engagement rings are by far the most expensive ones. It is also most preferred because of its durability and wear-resistance along with its luster. Gold is less expensive and lustrous as well. However, it needs to be polished after some years since the shine wears off. The quantity of metal used will have a direct relationship with the price, as will the purity of metal used. You can also opt for an alloy of two or more metals which has properties of both, and will be less expensive. Along with metal, any precious stones you use will add to the price. Diamonds engagement rings are the most expensive, colored diamonds more so. Diamonds are priced according to the 4 Cs: Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat. Sometimes people opt for other stones that also look very beautiful but are less expensive and make the rings unique. The design of your ring contributes to the price as well. Often, made to order engagement rings will cost much more than readymade rings. Depending on which of the above factors are important to you, balance out the other two accordingly. You do not wish to start your married life in debt, I’m sure. Engagement rings are no doubt important, however, not as important as the decision of marriage. When your decision is based on solid ground, the ring will symbolize this, and assume a beauty that no amount of money could buy.
