The "Toy Story" movie franchise has enjoyed enduring success and popularity for over the last 15 years, in large part due to the popularity of characters such as Buzz Lightyear and Woody. The Space Ranger character has been widely popular over the years, as evidenced by his depictions as an action figure, as well as on lunch boxes, posters, t-shirts, childrens pajamas, childrens travel suitcases, drink cups and other merchandise. One poll found the Buzz Lightyear released in the wake of the success of "Toy Story 3" to be the most popular Christmas toy of 2010. The Buzz Lightyear character is actually an action figure himself who, along with his friend Woody and the rest of their "Toy Story" companions, come to life when their owner, Andy, is not around. This premise has led to a series of three adventures for the Buzz Lightyear over the fifteen years spanned by the "Toy Story" movies. Buzz's adventures began in 1995, when audiences first met him in the original "Toy Story" movie. In this film, he was a new and naive character who would not accept that he is a toy and not a real Space Ranger. He and Woody feud but eventually must band together when they get lost far from their owner. In the second installment, Woody is taken hostage while Andy is away at camp. Buzz, in this adventure must unite and lead the other toys to get Woody back safely. In the recently released "Toy Story 3," Andy is ready to go away to college and the toys find themselves at the mercy of tots in a daycare. Buzz, Woody and the others team up with some of the local toys to engineer a great escape. "Toy Story 3" has been nominated for an Academy Award and we hope that it wins.
